One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchWorld of Warcraft: Forever Beta is a separate game version in Battle.net, and access is tied to an eligible Battle.net account. Before troubleshooting a download or connection, verify the beta license and select the Forever Beta client—not Retail, Classic Era, or another WoW version. Then check the realm status before changing local network settings.
1. Check that your account has Forever Beta access
Sign in to the Battle.net account you expect to use and look for the Forever beta license under Your Game Accounts. Blizzard says selected players who opted in are flagged for access, and eligible digital bundle purchasers also receive beta access. A newly granted entitlement can take up to 30 minutes to appear; restart the Battle.net desktop app after allowing time for it to update. Verify access in your account rather than treating an email or invitation link as proof, and avoid links that could be phishing attempts. Blizzard’s beta announcement has the official eligibility and installation instructions.
Blizzard announced that the beta is available through October 21, 2026, the final full test day before launch preparations. That schedule can change, so check the current official announcement if you are troubleshooting after that date.
2. Select and install the correct game version
- Open the Battle.net desktop app and select World of Warcraft.
- Open the Game Version dropdown and choose World of Warcraft: Forever Beta under In Development.
- Select Install. After installation, select Play and choose an available test realm.
The Forever Beta is not interchangeable with an existing Retail or Classic installation. Blizzard’s general World of Warcraft installation guidance also emphasizes selecting the intended game version.

If Battle.net offers Install for a folder that already has game files
In the app, choose Locate the game and point it to the existing folder. Blizzard says this can avoid downloading an existing installation again. This is general WoW installation advice; it is not a confirmed fix for every Forever Beta folder or version mismatch. If the app reports that the folder does not contain the correct version, confirm that you selected the Forever Beta entry and that the folder belongs to that client before trying again.
3. Restart and update Battle.net before applying bigger fixes
If the beta entry is missing after access has been confirmed, or the app behaves as if it has not updated, restart the Battle.net desktop app. Also install available updates for Battle.net and your graphics drivers, as Blizzard’s beta instructions advise.

For a stalled download or update, Blizzard’s general first-line guidance includes restarting the computer, optimizing the internet connection, and confirming that security software allows the game. If those steps do not help, reinstalling the Battle.net app is another general troubleshooting option. Check the exact error shown in the app first: Blizzard notes that specific errors may have their own support articles and instructions. Its installation help and technical troubleshooting resource provide current support information.
4. Check realm and service status before changing your network
When the client opens but you cannot connect, cannot see realms, or encounter a queue or disconnect, check Blizzard’s Realm Status page first. It lists realm availability and indicates when Blizzard is aware of a listed outage. A service-side problem calls for waiting for status to change, not reinstalling the game or repeatedly adjusting your computer.

If the realm appears available, check the Blizzard Common Technical Issues and Solutions resource linked from the beta announcement, then work through local connection basics. The available official guidance does not establish one universal cause or fix for Forever Beta disconnects, queues, latency, or “no realms” symptoms.
Use a wired connection as a diagnostic comparison
If you suspect unstable Wi-Fi, temporarily test on a wired connection if one is available. If the symptom changes, that is a clue to investigate the local wireless network; it does not prove that every connection problem is caused by Wi-Fi. If it persists, the cause may be elsewhere, including the account, client, realm, or service. Blizzard’s general advice is to optimize the internet connection; it does not specifically prescribe an Ethernet cable as a Forever Beta fix.

5. Match the next step to the symptom
| What you see | First check | What to do next |
|---|---|---|
| Forever Beta is missing from the version list | Beta license under Your Game Accounts | Allow up to 30 minutes for a new entitlement, restart Battle.net, and confirm the account and eligibility. |
| Install starts despite existing files, or the app reports the wrong folder/version | Selected game version and installation folder | Select Forever Beta explicitly; try Locate the game for the existing folder. This general guidance may not resolve every version mismatch. |
| Download or update stalls | Exact error message, app update state, and security software permissions | Use the error-specific support guidance where available, then try Blizzard’s general restart and connection steps. |
| No realms, queue, or repeated disconnect | Realm Status | If Blizzard lists an outage, wait for service recovery. If not, continue with Blizzard’s technical guidance and local network checks. |
| Problem occurs only on Wi-Fi | Local wireless stability | Compare with a wired connection if practical; treat the result as a diagnostic clue, not a guaranteed remedy. |
Use official installation and support routes
Blizzard’s official announcement directs players with installation or operating problems to its Common Technical Issues and Solutions resource. Use Battle.net to install the beta and verify the license through the account. Do not use unofficial installers, copied executable launch commands, or purported invitation links as substitutes.
Blizzard’s US and EU technical-support forums had player reports on October 4, 2026, describing launch failures, unavailable realms, repeated Battle.net updates, and incorrect-folder or version messages. Those posts are individual reports, not confirmed diagnoses or official fixes; use them as symptom examples, not as proof that a workaround applies to your system.
