WOW51900319 is World of Warcraft’s general server-disconnect error. It appears when the game client loses its connection with WoW servers, but the code does not identify whether the cause is an outage, a local network interruption, security or traffic-management software, damaged interface files, or a problem affecting one character.
Start by checking Blizzard’s service status, then use the scope of the failure—every character or only one—to choose the shortest troubleshooting path. The sequence below keeps server-side problems separate from local fixes and puts character recovery last, where it belongs.

What the code tells you—and what it does not
Blizzard describes WOW51900319 as a loss of connection between the game and World of Warcraft servers. That is a symptom, not a component diagnosis. The same message can be produced by a Blizzard maintenance event, a brief interruption between your PC and the game service, software that filters or prioritizes traffic, a broken add-on interface, or a character that is stuck in the game world.
Because the code is broad, changing files or buying networking hardware before checking the service and the failure scope can send you down the wrong path. A server outage will not be repaired by resetting your interface, while an add-on conflict will not be solved by waiting for maintenance to end.

Before changing anything
- Write down your region, realm, affected character names, and the approximate time of each disconnect.
- Note whether the error affects all characters or a single character, and whether another account or computer on the same connection has the same symptom.
- Keep the Battle.net and WoW windows closed when a step tells you to reset files. Renaming files while the game is running can leave a partial reset.
- Do not permanently delete configuration folders at the start. Renaming them preserves a rollback path if a reset does not help.
Step 1: Check Blizzard’s service status
Open Blizzard’s official customer-service status channel, @BlizzardCS, and the relevant support forums. Look for a maintenance notice, an outage report, or a cluster of current player reports in your region. Scheduled maintenance and an unexpected service incident can both produce WOW51900319.
If Blizzard has acknowledged an incident, stop local troubleshooting. Restarting routers, changing add-ons, or moving a character will not correct a server-side condition. Recheck the status channel after the stated maintenance window or after Blizzard reports recovery, then test the game once before making local changes.
If no incident is reported, continue with the steps below. A clean status page does not prove that your connection is healthy; it only removes the most obvious server-side explanation.
Step 2: Perform a clean restart
- Exit World of Warcraft from the in-game menu.
- Close the Battle.net desktop application completely. If it remains in the notification area, use its menu to exit rather than leaving it running.
- Power-cycle your modem and router according to the equipment maker’s normal procedure. Wait until the connection has fully returned before launching the game.
- Start Battle.net, launch WoW, and test the same character and activity that produced the error.
This sequence clears a stale game session and refreshes the local network path without changing account data or game files. If the error returns, note whether it appears at login, while entering a realm, during a zone change, or after a period of play; that timing is useful in the next branches.

Step 3: Determine whether the failure is account-wide or character-specific
Test another character
From the character-selection screen, try a different character on the same realm. If that character loads and remains connected, test one more character if available. A single successful login does not rule out an isolated character state, but repeated success on other characters makes a character-specific recovery the most efficient next step.
Compare realms or regions carefully
If you can log in elsewhere, record the realm and region rather than assuming the account is fixed. A realm-specific or regional condition can coexist with normal service for other players. Use the same network and client while comparing so that you change only one variable.
Classify the result
- All characters fail: continue to the network and client checks.
- One character fails while others work: use the character-recovery procedure in Step 6.
- The error appears only after an add-on or interface change: skip ahead to the interface reset.
Step 4: Check the connection path and traffic controls
Compare wired and Wi-Fi connections
If possible, test with a wired Ethernet connection for one session. A wired test is a diagnostic comparison, not a requirement that you permanently replace Wi-Fi. If Ethernet works while Wi-Fi repeatedly produces the error, investigate wireless signal quality, interference, and router placement rather than changing WoW files first. Record which connection was used when you contact support.
Temporarily remove a VPN or proxy from the test
Disconnect from any VPN or proxy and run WoW directly through your normal internet connection. Some services change the route or interrupt a long-lived game session. If the error disappears, restore the VPN only after testing and check whether a different server or policy is responsible. Do not leave a security product disabled as a permanent solution.

Review firewall and security software
Check that your firewall or security suite is not blocking Battle.net or the WoW executable after an update. Use the product’s own allowed-app or exception screen rather than turning protection off indefinitely. If you must perform a short diagnostic disable, do it only while testing, avoid visiting unrelated sites, and turn protection back on immediately afterward. A successful test means the security configuration needs correction; it does not establish that the game should run without protection.
Look for traffic-prioritization utilities
Blizzard forum troubleshooting has identified traffic-management software such as Killer Networking Center and SmartByte as examples that can interfere with a persistent game connection. If either is installed, pause its prioritization features or exit it for a controlled test, then restore the setting after the test. Other bandwidth managers, “gaming” network overlays, and similar utilities should be treated the same way: change one program at a time and record the result.
Test without competing traffic
Pause large downloads, cloud synchronization, video streams, and other programs that can saturate the connection. This is a diagnostic step, not a claim that normal household traffic always causes the code. If WoW works only when other traffic is stopped, investigate router quality-of-service rules or bandwidth contention instead of repeatedly reinstalling the game.
Step 5: Reset the WoW interface safely
Add-ons and damaged local settings can cause login, loading, or zoning failures that look like a connection drop. Blizzard’s interface-reset procedure is reversible when you rename the folders instead of deleting them.

- Exit WoW completely. Close any add-on manager as well.
- In Battle.net, open the WoW game page, select the gear icon beside the Play button, and choose the option to show or open the game’s installation folder.
- Open the folder for the edition you are playing:
_retail_,_classic_era_, or_classic_. - Rename the folders
Cache,Interface, andWTF. For example, useCache.old,Interface.old, andWTF.old. Renaming keeps the original data available for restoration. - Launch WoW without re-enabling add-ons and test the affected character or activity.
- If the disconnect is gone, add-ons or local settings are implicated. Re-enable add-ons in small groups, testing after each group, until the conflicting add-on or setting is identified.
To restore default console variables, log in and enter /console cvar_default in the chat box, then test again. This command changes console-variable settings; it does not repair a Blizzard outage or a broken network route.
If the reset does not help
Close the game and Battle.net before restoring the renamed folders. If restoring them brings the error back, leave the fresh folders in place and rebuild your interface gradually. If the error remains with a clean interface, return to the network branch rather than repeatedly resetting the same files.

- Open Blizzard’s self-service character move or unstuck service for your World of Warcraft account.
- Select the affected character and follow the service’s prompts to move it to a safe location.
- Wait for the service to complete, then launch WoW and test that character.
- If the self-service move fails, is unavailable for the character, or does not change the behavior, submit a Blizzard support ticket. Include the realm, character, approximate times, and the fact that other characters were tested successfully.
Do not repeatedly submit moves while a request is processing, and do not treat a character-specific symptom as proof that your entire account or internet connection is damaged.

Step 7: Run a controlled retest
After each change, alter only one condition and reproduce the activity that normally triggers WOW51900319. For example, test first with the interface reset, then with a wired connection, rather than changing add-ons, VPN settings, and router configuration at the same time. A controlled retest tells you which change mattered and makes it possible to undo an ineffective change.
Record four details for every test:
- the character, realm, and region;
- whether the connection was wired or Wi-Fi;
- whether a VPN, firewall exception, or traffic-prioritization utility was active;
- the exact point of failure, such as login, loading screen, zoning, or after several minutes.
When to contact Blizzard Support
Escalate after checking service status, completing the restart, testing the scope, and trying the branch that matches your symptoms. A support request is especially appropriate when:
- the status channels show no outage but every character continues to disconnect;
- the interface reset and network comparisons produce no change;
- only one character remains inaccessible after the self-service move;
- the problem began immediately after a patch and affects a repeatable loading or zoning point.
Give support a concise timeline instead of only pasting the error code. State your region and realm, whether other characters work, the connection type, recent patches or interface changes, the timing pattern, and whether the issue matched a Blizzard service incident. Blizzard does not publish a universal success rate or guaranteed resolution time for this code, so avoid treating any single workaround as certain.

- Changing settings during an outage: wait for Blizzard’s status channels to show recovery before judging local fixes.
