If Wuthering Waves appears stuck, first check whether it is downloading, verifying, decompressing, or installing files. A 100% progress bar does not always mean the process is finished. There is no universal waiting time. Verification speed depends on the update size, drive type, free space, CPU load, and the number of files being processed. Hard drives can make this stage look frozen even when the installation is progressing.

Fix a slow or stuck download on PC
- Pause and fully close the launcher. Exit Wuthering Waves and its launcher, then check Windows Task Manager for remaining launcher or game processes. Close a process only if it clearly remains active after the window has closed.
- Restart Windows. Reopen the launcher without other large downloads running.
- Check storage. Updates can need the patch, temporary extraction space, existing game files, replacement files, and verification or rollback space. Having only enough room for the final installation may not be sufficient.
- Use a more stable connection. Ethernet is the clearest test. Otherwise move closer to the router, try 5 GHz or 2.4 GHz Wi‐Fi depending on range, or test a different network.
- Disable connection-intercepting software. Test with VPNs, proxies, traffic shapers, DNS filters, and parental-control tools turned off. A VPN is not a guaranteed speed improvement and can add latency or cause timeouts.
- Check security software. Look in antivirus quarantine and check whether Windows Firewall or controlled-folder access is blocking the launcher from connecting or writing to the installation folder. Prefer an allowlist exception for the official launcher and game directory rather than leaving protection disabled.
- Run file repair. Use the launcher’s Repair, Repair Now, Verify, or equivalent option. The exact label can differ between the official PC client and other launchers.
An SSD can significantly reduce decompression and verification delays. It cannot increase the download server’s bandwidth or fix a corrupted connection. Steam’s current listing for Wuthering Waves specifies Windows 10 64-bit, DirectX 12, and 150 GB of available storage; it supports an HDD but recommends an SSD for minimum specifications and requires one for recommended specifications. - Pause and resume the download, then fully restart Steam.
- Open Steam’s download settings and test another download region if the problem appears limited to Steam’s delivery route.
- Clear Steam’s download cache only after saving anything important and noting that Steam may require you to sign in again.
- Confirm that the Steam library drive has enough working space, not merely enough space for the final game.
- After installation or a failed update, use Steam’s file-integrity verification option.
If Steam itself cannot download other games, focus on Steam, the network, or the storage drive rather than repeatedly repairing Wuthering Waves.

Android: fix a slow or frozen installation
- Confirm sufficient internal storage. Space available only on an SD card may not satisfy the store or the game.
- Restart the phone and retry through Google Play.
- Switch between Wi‐Fi and mobile data as a diagnostic test. A hotspot may be unsuitable for a full download because of data caps or carrier throttling.
- Keep the phone charging and prevent aggressive battery-saving or sleep restrictions from stopping the store or launcher.
- Clear the Google Play Store cache if your Android version provides that option.
- Install and update through Google Play, not an untrusted third-party APK source.
Some resources download after the app is installed. Treat that in-game download separately from Google Play’s app download. Do not clear Wuthering Waves’ app data casually: it can remove locally stored resources and settings and trigger a full redownload. Before reinstalling, confirm that your account is linked and that you know the login method.

iPhone and iPad: fix a stuck App Store download
- Check available device storage.
- Restart the iPhone or iPad.
- Use the App Store and test another Wi‐Fi network.
- Keep the device connected to power during a large installation.
- If the app icon is visibly paused, cancel and restart the App Store download.
iOS does not use Android’s cache-clearing procedure. Reinstall only after confirming that your Wuthering Waves account is linked and your credentials are available.
PS5: update or redownload Wuthering Waves
- On the PS5 home screen, highlight Wuthering Waves.
- Press the Options button.
- Select Check for Update.
- Confirm that the console has enough free storage.
- Restart the PS5 and router, then test the update again.
- If necessary, cancel and redownload the update or game.
Options → Check for Update is the documented path in a Wuthering Waves update notice, although PlayStation menu labels can change.

Storage, decompression, and verification problems
Large updates may temporarily require more space than the advertised installed size. The launcher may need to keep the existing files while downloading a patch, extract replacement files, verify them, and retain rollback data. A nearly full drive can therefore cause a download to loop, fail near completion, or appear frozen.
Free space before retrying. If the progress repeatedly loops, check whether the drive is reporting errors and whether other games or applications also have trouble writing files. An SSD generally makes file processing faster, but moving the game to an SSD will not repair corrupted files or solve an ISP or server problem.

Repair versus reinstall

HoYoverse’s general troubleshooting documentation discusses network failures, antivirus and firewall interference, corrupted files, and insufficient storage. Do not assume every error code in a general HoYoverse article is specific to Wuthering Waves unless the game is explicitly identified.
When the problem is server-side
Check the official Wuthering Waves status page before repeatedly reinstalling. Its status is time-sensitive, so an operational result at one moment does not guarantee that service is currently unaffected. A regional delivery issue or outage will not be fixed by deleting local files.
