Then check, in order, whether your exact Samsung TV and region are supported, both accounts and the game entitlement are correct, the controller is compatible, the TV’s connection is stable, and the TV software is current. These symptoms point to different fixes; a faster connection will not make an unsupported TV eligible, and a controller cannot solve an Xbox service outage.
First, identify the problem
- Xbox or Gaming Hub is missing: Check the exact TV model, country or region, and TV software. Samsung’s troubleshooting guidance discusses Gaming Hub on compatible 2022-or-later TVs, while Xbox lists select Samsung Smart TVs from 2020 onward for the Xbox app. Those broad year ranges are not universal guarantees; use Samsung’s current compatibility information for your model and market. - The app opens, but sign-in or launch fails: Check internet access, Samsung Account and Microsoft/Xbox sign-in, the plan on the Microsoft account, supported region, and whether the game is currently available to play from the cloud with that plan. Xbox Cloud Gaming requirements
- The controller will not navigate or control a game: Verify compatibility, charge, pairing mode, and the TV’s Bluetooth connection. Remove a stale pairing and pair again.
- A game starts but buffers, disconnects, or looks poor: Run Samsung’s Smart Hub Connection Test, then check connection speed and network conditions.
- Other Gaming Hub services work but Xbox does not: Check Xbox service status and Xbox-specific support; this points away from a general Gaming Hub or TV network fault. Samsung Gaming Hub troubleshooting
Check TV, region, account, plan, and game eligibility
Xbox describes TV support as select Samsung Smart TVs from 2020 onward. That is a broad product-family description, not confirmation that every Samsung set released in or after 2020 supports the app. Check your full model code and country against Samsung’s current Gaming Hub compatibility information. For most cloud games, Xbox requires an eligible Game Pass plan and a game that supports cloud play. Select free-to-play games are an exception. Supported regions, plan entitlements, and catalog availability can vary, and the catalog changes. If games are missing, confirm that the TV is signed in to the intended Microsoft account, check the plan attached to that account, and look up the current cloud-playable catalog for your region. Reconnect and validate the controller
Xbox’s service requirements call for a compatible controller connected over Bluetooth or USB; only select games support touch controls. On the TV, open Bluetooth device settings and pair the controller there. If the TV sees the controller but it will not connect reliably:

- Charge the controller and put it into pairing mode.
- In the TV’s Bluetooth settings, remove its saved pairing, then search and pair again.
- Restart the controller and TV, then test input in another game or app if possible.
- If available, try another known-compatible controller to determine whether the problem follows the controller.
Check Xbox’s official controller firmware guidance if an update may be needed. Compatibility can depend on the TV and controller model, so verify before buying a replacement; a controller will not fix sign-in, eligibility, network, or service-status problems. Test the TV’s connection and improve stream quality
Run Samsung’s connection test
On supported Samsung interfaces, open All Settings > Support > Device Care > Self Diagnosis > Smart Hub Connection Test. Menu wording may differ by model or software version. If the test reports a problem, reconnect the TV to the router and resolve the TV’s network error first. If it passes, check actual internet speed as well: a successful Smart Hub test does not guarantee enough throughput or low enough latency for cloud gaming. Compare your connection with Xbox’s guidance
Xbox’s general cloud-gaming FAQ specifies a 10 Mbps download minimum, notes that some devices may need 20 Mbps for the best quality, and recommends 5 GHz Wi-Fi. Its TV guidance recommends a wired connection or 5 GHz Wi-Fi at 20 Mbps or higher for best performance. - If possible, connect the TV to the router with Ethernet.
- Otherwise, use 5 GHz Wi-Fi and move the TV or access point to improve signal.
- Pause large downloads and bandwidth-heavy streams on the same network while testing.
- Retest the game after each change so you can tell whether the connection improved.
Update the TV and check whether Xbox is having an outage
If Gaming Hub is missing on a model that appears eligible, install available TV software updates and restart the TV. Samsung recommends current firmware when Gaming Hub does not appear. If the app and other Gaming Hub services work but Xbox alone fails, check Xbox service status and its cloud-game support pages rather than repeatedly changing TV network settings. When to contact Samsung or Xbox support
If the issue persists, gather details that let support distinguish a TV problem from an Xbox account, catalog, or service problem:
- Full Samsung TV model code, country or region, and TV software version
- The exact error message and whether the Xbox app opens
- The game and plan involved, and which Microsoft account is signed in
- Controller model and connection method
- Wi-Fi or Ethernet connection, measured speed, and Smart Hub Connection Test result
Contact Samsung for TV, firmware, or Gaming Hub issues; contact Xbox for account, cloud-game catalog, or Xbox service issues. Avoid a factory reset as an early generic fix: Samsung’s troubleshooting path emphasizes eligibility, current firmware, connection testing, and contacting the relevant service provider.
