Select Minecraft if it appears. If it is not listed, the official Minecraft instructions say no update is available there and the game is fully updated.
Manually check for a Minecraft update on Xbox
- Open My Apps & Games.
- Highlight Minecraft and press the controller’s Menu button to open its options.
- Select Manage game & add-ons, then open Updates.
- If Minecraft appears in the list, select it to install the update.
Minecraft’s official Xbox update instructions identify this as the manual check. Minecraft Help also gives the route My games & apps > Manage > Updates, where you can select Minecraft or choose Update all to install listed updates.
If Minecraft does not appear under Updates
An empty Updates list means there is no Minecraft update available to install through that menu; according to Minecraft’s instructions, the game is fully updated. Minecraft attempts to update automatically when the console is connected to the internet.
If you are checking because a particular version is required, compare the version installed on your Xbox with the version shown on the console’s Minecraft store listing. If the installed version is older, use the manual update steps above. The available official guidance does not establish that clearing a cache, reinstalling the game, or using a repair utility will make an unavailable update appear.

Check automatic updates
If Minecraft did not update automatically, check that automatic updates are enabled in the Xbox’s platform settings. Minecraft Help recommends enabling platform automatic updates and manually updating a game that failed to update. The exact Xbox settings path can vary by console software version, so follow the current labels shown on your console. If menu names differ from those above, use the closest current game-management and updates options.
