Where to find a Dinosaur Egg
There are several ways to obtain a Dinosaur Egg in the unmodded game. Some have listed drop chances; others have no chance stated in the cited game reference. None is guaranteed.

Choose a route that fits your progress
- If you prefer combat and can reach the Skull Cavern, hunt Pepper Rexes or search Prehistoric Floors. The listed 10% is a per-drop chance from a Pepper Rex, not a promise that one will drop an egg.
- If you are digging or fishing, check Mountain and Quarry Artifact Spots or eligible Fishing Treasure Chests. The stated chances are low, so these are opportunities rather than reliable ways to get an egg quickly.
- The Movie Theater and a max-friendship dog are additional possibilities, but the cited page gives no probability for either.
How to hatch the egg
- Build or upgrade to a Big or Deluxe Coop, which has an incubator. Place the Dinosaur Egg in that incubator.
- Wait for it to hatch. The Stardew Valley Wiki’s incubator page lists the incubation time as 18,000 in-game minutes—11 days, 6 hours, 40 minutes—or 9,000 minutes (5 days, 16 hours, 40 minutes) with the Coopmaster profession.
- Care for the Dinosaur and keep it fed. Once mature and fed, it produces one Dinosaur Egg every seven days.
The Dinosaur is hatched from an egg; it is not bought as a coop animal. Incubation timing and other mechanics here reflect the wiki’s unmodded-game guidance; platform- and version-specific differences are not comprehensively established.
Should you donate your first Dinosaur Egg?
If you want both a Dinosaur and Museum donation progress, incubate your first egg rather than donating it. After the Dinosaur matures, collect an egg it produces and donate that one. This gets you both outcomes, but you will need to wait through the animal’s production cycle. The Dinosaur Egg page identifies the egg as an artifact, and the Dinosaur page lists its production cycle.

What else can you do with a Dinosaur Egg?
You can put an egg in a Mayonnaise Machine to make Dinosaur Mayonnaise. Its listed base sale value is 800g, according to the Stardew Valley Wiki’s Dinosaur Mayonnaise page. This is an alternative use: an egg used this way will not hatch or be donated.
