You can get ESO Plus for free only when a limited-time trial is active. When an offer is available, log in to The Elder Scrolls Online, open the Crown Store, select the ESO Plus tab, choose Free Trial, and accept. The official instructions describe that claim path, but they do not confirm that a trial is active today; check the in-game Crown Store and current ESO news first.
How to claim an ESO Plus free trial
When a trial is running, claim it from inside the game:
- Log in to The Elder Scrolls Online.
- Open the Crown Store.
- Select the ESO Plus tab.
- Choose Free Trial at the bottom of the window.
- Accept the offer.
These steps come from the official ESO Plus Free Trial support instructions. The linked instructions describe an August 5–12, 2025 event, not a standing offer, so the claim option may not appear outside an active trial.
Is a free month available right now?
The official ESO news archive lists a limited-time “Get More Out of Tamriel with the ESO Plus Free Trial” announcement dated August 20, 2026. The archive entry does not establish the trial’s dates, eligibility, or whether it remains claimable on October 8, 2026. Check the official ESO news and Crown Store for the current offer rather than assuming the announcement is still active.

What did the documented 2025 trial include?
The August 5–12, 2025 event notice listed these benefits. They describe that specific historical trial, not necessarily a later one.
- Access to more than 30 DLC game packs.
- A Craft Bag with unlimited crafting-material storage.
- Double bank space.
- Several 10% progression or currency bonuses.
- Double furnishings and collectibles space in player housing.
- Costume dyeing and double Transmute Crystal storage.
That event did not include the regular ESO Plus crown stipend or the Companions introduced in Update 44, Blackwood, High Isle, or Necrom Chapters. Check the notice for any current trial to see its exact inclusions and exclusions. The official 2025 notice said no credit card was required and players would not be charged when that event ended unless they purchased ESO Plus; do not assume different event terms without checking its own notice.

Does buying ESO or logging in give you a free month?
No. ESO Support says new players no longer receive 30 complimentary days of game time on first login because a subscription is not required to play. Its support page says new players instead receive 500 complimentary Crowns and access to the original game and the first six major updates since launch. Buying the game or creating an account is not a way to unlock a free ESO Plus month. See Why didn’t I get 30 free days of ESO Plus membership for buying the game?
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Is ESO Plus included with Xbox Game Pass?
No. ESO Support describes ESO Plus as a separate service that Xbox Game Pass does not include. The official ESO Plus membership page lists paid membership options across PC/Mac, PlayStation, and Xbox; check your platform’s checkout screen for current terms and price. A paid subscription is separate from a limited-time free trial.
