Complete the A Realm Reborn main scenario quest The Scions of the Seventh Dawn, then take the side quest Bottled Fantasy from the Medicine Merchant in Ul’dah. Finish the quest to receive one Phial of Fantasia. You do not need to complete Dawntrail’s main story or reach level 90.
How to unlock and complete Bottled Fantasy
- Finish the prerequisite quest. Progress the A Realm Reborn main scenario through The Scions of the Seventh Dawn. It is the listed prerequisite for Bottled Fantasy.
- Find the quest giver. Go to Ul’dah – Steps of Thal and speak to the Medicine Merchant at X:13.4, Y:9.2 to accept Bottled Fantasy. The quest is available to any class or job at level 1 once the prerequisite is met.
- Complete Bottled Fantasy. The reward is one Phial of Fantasia.

What a Phial of Fantasia lets you change
Fantasia opens the character appearance editor on your next login. According to the official Dawntrail product page, you can change your character’s race, gender, clan, physical features, date of birth, and patron deity. It does not change your character’s name or starting class or city. Remove all equipment except your main-hand item before using the phial. Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail
How the 60-minute Fantasia window works
Since Patch 7.0, after the initial edit, you can reopen the appearance editor and make further changes for 60 minutes of in-game playtime. The timer starts after you log in following that first edit. Why Square Enix added the free quest
Producer and Director Naoki Yoshida said the graphical update could make some characters look subtly different, and the quest would give players a way to fine-tune their appearance. He explained that a phial would be available from a new quest at Patch 7.0’s release “which will allow you to fine-tune your character’s appearance.” Yoshida’s Patch 7.0 statement
