- Use one potion on each animal during in-game daytime. The wiki says the animals travel to each other and lay an egg where they meet. See the animal breeding guide.
- Check the egg’s tier. Parent traits or stats affect the result. The wiki recommends higher-fertility parents when pursuing a higher-tier egg, but it does not state a specific stat threshold or guarantee Tier 2.
Does the method change by animal?
The basic breeding method is described for multiple animal species, but some species have different ways to obtain a first animal or a Tier 1 egg. For example, the chicken wiki page says Tier 1 chicken spawn eggs are sold after reaching Animal Care level 12; it describes breeding with Fertility Potions for higher tiers: Chicken wiki page. Do not assume that the Tier 1 requirement or availability is identical for cows, sheep or other animals.
What to expect from a breeding attempt
Breeding is a way to pursue a higher-tier spawn egg, not a guaranteed Tier 2 recipe. The available wiki pages do not give a required parent combination, exact fertility values, or the probability of getting Tier 2. If the egg is a different tier, the sources do not specify a corrective step beyond trying again with higher-fertility animals.
