In Palworld, the most reliable documented way to earn Ancient Technology Points is to defeat bosses you have not beaten before: first-time Alpha Pal and dungeon boss victories are reported to award 1 point, while a first Tower Boss victory awards 5. Ancient Technical Manuals are another reported source, worth 1 point each, but their drop rates and locations are not firmly established.
How many points each source gives
| Source | Reported reward | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| Alpha Pal, first victory | 1 Ancient Technology Point | Reported by Palworld Breeding and Palpedia. |
| Dungeon boss, first victory | 1 Ancient Technology Point | Reported by Palpedia. |
| Tower Boss, first victory | 5 Ancient Technology Points | Reported by Palworld Breeding and Palpedia. |
| Ancient Technical Manual | 1 Ancient Technology Point | Palpedia reports this reward; it mentions chests as a source but does not establish drop rates or a complete location list. |
The boss reward amounts above are reported by two guides updated in 2026, including one marked verified for Palworld 1.0.3. They are not confirmed here by official Pocketpair documentation, and game updates may change them.
Best route: target bosses you have not cleared
Prioritize an uncleared Tower Boss if you are equipped to win: its reported first-clear payout is five points, compared with one for an Alpha Pal or dungeon boss. If a Tower fight is beyond your current setup, take the lower-yield first victories you can manage.
- Choose a Tower Boss you have not defeated and prepare for the encounter.
- After earning its first-clear reward, move on to another uncleared Tower Boss, Alpha Pal, or dungeon boss rather than repeating the same fight for points.
- Treat Ancient Technical Manuals found in chests as a bonus. The available guide does not establish a dependable chest route or a predictable chance of finding one.
If a repeat boss defeat gives no point, that is consistent with the guides describing these rewards as first-victory bonuses; look for a different boss you have not cleared.

Ancient Technology Points are not ordinary Technology Points
Palworld has separate progression systems. Ordinary Technology Points are reported as coming from leveling and unlocking fast-travel points. Ancient Technology Points come from the boss first clears and manuals described above. Lifmunk Effigies are used to increase Capture Power; they do not award Ancient Technology Points. Palworld Breeding’s guide distinguishes these systems.

Palpedia reports that an Ancient Technical Manual grants 1 point and can be found in chests, but the guide does not provide a verified drop chance or an exhaustive list of current locations. Do not count on a particular chest or assume that repeatedly opening chests will produce points at a known rate.
