To get or change tattoos in Cyberpunk 2077, visit a ripperdoc and choose the appearance customization option. CD PROJEKT RED added this feature in Update 2.0; Update 2.2 later added more tattoo designs.
How to change tattoos at a ripperdoc
- Visit any ripperdoc.
- Open the appearance customization option in the ripperdoc’s menu.
- Use the character appearance controls to choose or change V’s tattoos, then confirm your selection.
CD PROJEKT RED’s Update 2.0 notes state that players can change tattoos at ripperdocs. This is an appearance customization feature, not a quest reward or an item you collect from the world.

What tattoo choices did Update 2.2 add?
Update 2.2 added 4 face tattoos and 2 body tattoos, according to CD PROJEKT RED’s December 10, 2024 update notes. These are the additions in that update, not the total number of tattoo designs in the game.
Do you need Phantom Liberty or a particular edition?
No. CD PROJEKT RED says Update 2.2 is free for owners of the base game on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S; neither Phantom Liberty nor the Ultimate Edition is required to get that update. See the official Update 2.2 details.

If the tattoo option is missing
- Check that your game is updated, since tattoo changes at ripperdocs were introduced in Update 2.0.
- Look for the appearance customization flow in the ripperdoc menu. The official notes establish the feature but do not document every platform-specific menu label.
- Patch 2.21 lists general character-creation fixes, including appearance options not applying correctly, but does not identify a tattoo-specific fix. Its patch notes therefore do not establish that installing it will resolve a missing tattoo option.
