To get custom songs in Beat Saber, use the method for where the game is installed: on PC, install a BeatSaver map through ModAssistant OneClick or copy its extracted folder into the game’s CustomLevels folder; on standalone Quest 2, use the community-supported ModsBeforeFriday (MBF) route. If Quest 2 is streaming the PC version, follow the PC steps instead. Quest modding affects official multiplayer and base-game leaderboards, so check those tradeoffs before proceeding.
First, identify which version of Beat Saber you use
A Quest 2 can run Beat Saber two ways, and the installations are separate:
- Standalone Quest 2: The game runs on the headset. Use the Quest modding workflow below.
- PCVR with Quest 2: The game runs on a gaming PC and the headset is used to play it. Use the PC workflow, regardless of the headset.
- PC headset: Use the PC workflow.
Get custom songs on PC
Find community maps on BeatSaver. The Beat Saber Modding Group guide describes two ways to add them: a ModAssistant OneClick install, or manual extraction into the game’s CustomLevels folder. It also describes manual installation of compatible maps without mods.
Option 1: Install with ModAssistant OneClick
- Install and open ModAssistant, then enable OneClick installs in its settings. Select BeatSaver as a OneClick source if needed.
- Open a map on BeatSaver and choose its OneClick install button.
- Allow the map to download and install. ModAssistant unpacks it and places it in the game’s
CustomLevelsfolder.
Use a ModAssistant version compatible with your Beat Saber installation and current game build; the community guide’s steps and mod compatibility can change after updates. See the BSMG PC modding guide.

Option 2: Install a map manually
- Download a map ZIP from BeatSaver.
- Extract the ZIP so the map is a folder, rather than leaving it compressed.
- Move that folder into
Beat Saber_Data/CustomLevelsinside the directory where Beat Saber is installed. - Launch the game and look for the map in the custom songs list.
The exact full folder path depends on where and how the game was installed. The guide lists common Steam and Oculus/Meta PC locations, but if you chose a different install location, find that game’s own Beat Saber_Data/CustomLevels directory. Some maps recommend mods, and gameplay may be better with them; the guide also describes compatible maps that can be installed manually without mods.
Get custom songs on standalone Quest 2
For standalone Quest, current community guides point to ModsBeforeFriday (MBF), a community-supported modding route rather than a Beat Games feature. Once the game is modded and the required core mods are installed, use Song Downloader in Beat Saber to find and download maps. Alternatively, download a map from BeatSaver and upload it through MBF. Connect the headset for MBF setup
- Enable developer mode using Meta’s current process. MBF says developer mode is required for the headset to be accessible over USB; consult Meta’s developer-mode and device setup instructions for the current steps.
- Connect the headset to a computer with a USB-C data cable. The cable must support data, not just charging.
- Open MBF and follow its current on-screen steps to mod the installed game.
- After setup, use Song Downloader in-game or upload downloaded maps through MBF.
Quest mod support depends on the game version. Check the live MBF and BSMG guidance before updating Beat Saber or starting the setup; no specific Quest build is guaranteed here.
What changes when you mod standalone Quest?
The BSMG Quest guide says that modding with MBF disables official multiplayer and the ability to view or upload scores on the base-game leaderboards. These are community-documented consequences, and the available mods can vary with Beat Saber updates. If those official features matter to you, weigh that cost before changing the installation.

Can you get custom songs on PlayStation?
No. Beat Saber’s official FAQ says, “PS VR is a closed platform and custom levels together with user-generated content are currently not possible there.” See the Beat Saber FAQ. This is separate from Quest 2 and PC, where community workflows exist.
