To get Diancie in Pokémon GO, complete the free Glitz and Glam Special Research. It became available to all Trainers on May 1, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. local time, and it does not expire. The reward is a Diancie encounter unless you had already accessed the 2023 Pokémon GO Fest-exclusive Diancie research; in that case, Glitz and Glam awards Diancie Candy instead.
How to get Diancie from Glitz and Glam
Glitz and Glam is the permanent, free Special Research story that Pokémon GO opened to all Trainers in 2024. The official announcement states that it became available on May 1, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. local time, and says Trainers can complete it at their own pace. Pokémon GO’s announcement does not provide the individual research tasks or stage-by-stage rewards, so a precise task walkthrough cannot be confirmed from that source.
To check whether the research is available on your account, open Pokémon GO and look in the Special tab of the Research menu. If Glitz and Glam is listed, open it and complete the displayed objectives. Because it does not expire, there is no event deadline to meet.
What reward should you expect?
For Trainers who had not previously accessed the Pokémon GO Fest 2023-exclusive Diancie Special Research, completing Glitz and Glam awards a Diancie encounter. If you had already accessed that GO Fest research, the reward changes to Diancie Candy rather than another encounter, according to the official announcement.

Glitz and Glam, Field Research, and Shiny Diancie compared
These are separate offerings, and their access rules and rewards are not interchangeable.
| Offering | Access and reward | Timing |
|---|---|---|
| Glitz and Glam Special Research | Free to all Trainers. Rewards a Diancie encounter, or Diancie Candy if you had already accessed the 2023 GO Fest-exclusive Diancie research. | Available beginning May 1, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. local time; does not expire. |
| Diancie-themed Field Research | Temporary PokéStop Photo Disc tasks could reward Diancie Mega Energy and Carbink encounters. | Ran from May 1, 2024, at 12:00 a.m. through May 3, 2024, at 11:59 p.m. local time. |
| Sparkle and Shine Masterwork Research | Ticket-linked research associated with Pokémon GO Tour: Kalos – Global 2026, leading to Shiny Diancie. | The event took place February 28 and March 1, 2026. The Masterwork Research does not expire after it is obtained. |
The Field Research was a separate, time-limited event feature; its Mega Energy and Carbink rewards are not steps or rewards from Glitz and Glam. The event dates and task rewards are from Pokémon GO’s 2024 announcement.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Does Glitz and Glam give you Shiny Diancie?
No. Glitz and Glam is the free 2024 research for a Diancie encounter or, for eligible returning players, Diancie Candy; it is not the Shiny Diancie research. Shiny Diancie was tied to the separate, ticket-linked Sparkle and Shine Masterwork Research associated with Pokémon GO Tour: Kalos – Global in 2026. Pokémon GO Hub describes that research in its Sparkle and Shine guide, and Leek Duck’s 2026 event guide corroborates the event dates and ticket context. Those sources do not establish that tickets remain available now.
