Dying Light: The Beast is free only for owners of Dying Light 2: Stay Human Ultimate Edition. Techland’s PlayStation FAQ states: “It is only free to those who own Dying Light 2: Stay Human Ultimate Edition.” The offer is for the standalone game, not simply for anyone who owns Dying Light 2.
Who can get Dying Light: The Beast for free?
The free standalone copy is tied to ownership of Dying Light 2: Stay Human Ultimate Edition. Techland said it would provide The Beast at no extra cost to those owners, describing it as a full standalone adventure rather than just DLC. The PlayStation product FAQ gives the same edition-specific eligibility rule: only owners of Dying Light 2: Stay Human Ultimate Edition qualify.
Owning another edition of Dying Light 2 does not meet the eligibility rule stated on that page. The sources available do not specify whether Ultimate Edition upgrades, purchases made after a particular date, regional differences, or storefront variants qualify. Don’t assume those cases are included or excluded without checking with Techland or the platform where you bought the game.
How to check for the free copy
The official pages reviewed do not provide a complete, current claim walkthrough for every platform, so there is no confirmed universal sequence of buttons to follow. If you own the qualifying edition but cannot find The Beast:
#1 Best Overall
- Sign in to the platform account used to purchase or redeem Dying Light 2: Stay Human Ultimate Edition.
- Check that account’s game library and the platform store page for Dying Light: The Beast.
- If the entitlement is still missing, contact the platform’s support team or Techland Support and ask them to verify your edition and account entitlement.
The sources reviewed do not state an eligibility cutoff date. Avoid relying on an unverified deadline or assuming the game will always appear automatically on every account.
Restored Land is a separate free upgrade
Dying Light: The Beast Restored Land is a later enhanced version, not another route to claim the original standalone game. Techland says owners of The Beast Standard Edition automatically receive a free upgrade to Restored Land Edition. Techland Support says existing players’ upgrade is based on the edition they previously purchased, and also describes in-game unlock rewards: Techland Support.
Rank #2
| Offer | Who it applies to | What you receive |
|---|---|---|
| Original free-game offer | Owners of Dying Light 2: Stay Human Ultimate Edition, according to the PlayStation FAQ | A copy of the standalone Dying Light: The Beast |
| Restored Land upgrade | Existing owners of Dying Light: The Beast; the resulting edition depends on the edition previously purchased | A free upgrade to the corresponding Restored Land edition |
The Restored Land offer does not make the original game free to people who do not already own The Beast.
When did Dying Light: The Beast launch?
PlayStation and Steam list Dying Light: The Beast as released on September 18, 2025. Steam lists the standalone PC game and its editions, while PlayStation lists the PS5 release and editions. An earlier TechRadar report gave an August 22, 2025 date, but that schedule was superseded by the storefront release date.
