The clearest location guidance is for Iron in Wayshire caves and Platinum in Balghar caves or on the surface. Treat all routes below as community-reported, not verified current-game directions.
Which ores are documented in Rune Slayer?
The community-maintained Items page names the ores below and also associates several gems or other materials with mining. Because this is a fan-maintained inventory rather than an official live-game catalog, it does not establish that every listed item is currently obtainable or that the list is exhaustive.
| Ore | Reported location | Pickaxe or mining method | Documented use or related material |
|---|---|---|---|
| Copper | Black Ooze Slime Cave is listed as containing copper; locations guide may be incomplete or inaccurate. | Not stated. | Amber is associated with Copper on the Items page. |
| Iron | Caves across Wayshire; Black Ooze Slime Cave and Pinewood Thickets are also named by the locations guide, which warns it may be incomplete or inaccurate. | Any pickaxe, according to the Iron Ore page. | Used to make Iron Bars; Amethyst is associated with Iron. |
| Silver | Not stated. | Not stated. | Sapphire is associated with Silver. |
| Platinum | Balghar caves and the surface. | Silver pickaxe, according to the Platinum Ore page. | Used to craft Platinum Bars; Ruby is associated with Platinum. |
| Mithril | Not stated. | Not stated. | Mining Mithril is reported as one possible way to obtain Gold Ore; rates are unknown. |
| Zirc | Not stated. | Not stated. | Not stated. |
| Cobalt | Not stated. | Not stated. | Not stated. |
| Gold | Reported as a random result from mining Mithril or Platinum; the rate is unknown. | Not stated. | Not stated. |
The Items page also lists Volcanic Ice Shard as a mining-related material and places its origin in Balgaron Chasm. It is not one of the eight named ore types in that page’s ore list.
How to find Iron Ore in Wayshire
The most specific early-game lead is Iron Ore in caves across Wayshire, the starting town. The Iron Ore page says any pickaxe can mine it, and that Iron is used to make Iron Bars and can count toward low-rank job board quests.

The separate Locations guide names Black Ooze Slime Cave as a copper-and-iron location and Pinewood Thickets as an area with Iron Minerals. Its own warning says location information may be unfinished or incorrect, so use those as search leads rather than guaranteed node coordinates.
Where to find Platinum Ore
The community wiki’s Platinum Ore page reports Platinum in Balghar caves and on the surface. It says a silver pickaxe can mine the ore and that Platinum is used to craft Platinum Bars. This is the strongest documented route for Platinum, but the page does not provide precise coordinates or establish whether every listed surface or cave location remains unchanged.

How mining quests work
Kael Stonevein is listed as the mining quest giver inside the Wayshire Blacksmith. The wiki says mining upgrades stamina and lists three mining quests, each offering 500 Mining Profession EXP:
| Quest label | Ore requested | Reward |
|---|---|---|
| Profession 1 | 25 Silver | 500 Mining Profession EXP |
| Profession 2 | 35 Iron | 500 Mining Profession EXP |
| Profession 4 | 2 Mithril | 500 Mining Profession EXP |
The listing skips a Profession 3 entry; the available page does not explain why. Check Kael’s current dialogue and the in-game quest information before gathering specifically for a listed requirement.

Can you mine Gold Ore directly?
The Gold Ore page describes Gold as a random result when mining Mithril or Platinum. It explicitly says the rates are unknown, so there is no confirmed drop percentage to plan around. If you are pursuing Gold, mine those ores as a chance-based method rather than expecting a guaranteed yield.

The wiki is community-maintained, and its locations guide cautions that it may be unfinished or inaccurate. A visual guide by StarPhil, published February 23, 2025, covers Copper/Iron, Silver, Platinum, and Mithril/Gold, but it is an older snapshot rather than confirmation of current mechanics: StarPhil’s Rune Slayer ore locations video.
