To collect the Toran Lake Castle chests, follow the main route while checking both branches at the four-way junction, tracing the pool’s south and west edge, and walking through two apparently solid walls in the upper room. The concealed wall passages lead to the two chests that are easiest to miss.
Ground floor: collect the dock and pool chests

Pool perimeter: Toe Shoes
Continue north and east, but don’t leave the pool area by following only the obvious eastward route. Trace the south edge toward the southwest corner, then follow the west (left) side of the pool to the chest containing Toe Shoes. The DigitalPhablet HD guide also directs players along the pool’s south edge. The GameFAQs walkthrough notes the shoes are useful later for Mina’s recruitment, although it mentions other ways to obtain a pair.

Four-way junction: take both branches
At the four-way intersection, explore both dead ends before continuing:

- South branch: 2,000 Bits/Potch, depending on the guide’s terminology.
After collecting both, head east and then north along the route.
Eastern stairwell and adjoining rooms: rune piece, hat, and medicine
Use the stairwell on the eastern side, then check the connected corridors and rooms for the next chests. The GameFAQs walkthrough lists a Power Rune Piece, a Pointed Hat, and Medicine ×6. The HD-focused DigitalPhablet guide calls the rune item a STR Rune Piece and the hat a Pointy Hat. Item labels and counts are not fully consistent between these guides, so use the name and quantity shown in your game rather than assuming the wording is identical.
Save-point floor: another Antitoxin chest
Check near the save point for a chest containing Antitoxin ×4, as listed in the GameFAQs walkthrough.

Upper room: reach the two hidden chests through walls
The upper room contains two chests that appear inaccessible from the visible path. The route is through walls that look solid:
- From the entrance, walk directly into the wall to the south. Keep following the concealed passage around until you reach the first chest.
- Return to the main path. From the entrance, walk into the wall directly to the east to find the second chest.
The GameFAQs walkthrough calls the contents Hazy crystal and Wind crystal. The DigitalPhablet guide uses Hazy/Wind Rune or Orb wording. The exact displayed names can vary by guide or localization; check your game’s item text. The guides support the route and item finds, but their terminology alone does not establish a gameplay difference between the original and HD Remaster.
