The easiest dependable routes to Fortune III in Survival are to try a level-30 enchanting-table offer or seek a Fortune enchanted book from a librarian. Neither guarantees a quick result: table enchantments are random, and villager trade rerolls depend on your edition, version and settings. Set up a level-30 offer
Arrange 15 active bookshelves around the enchanting table, leaving the required air gap between the shelves and the table. Put an eligible tool or book in the table and inspect the offers. If you have the needed materials, the highest-level offer is a practical attempt, but level 30 describes the offer level—not a promise that the result will be Fortune III.

Know when to stop spending materials
Enchantments are random, so the table may offer another enchantment or a lower Fortune level. Check the displayed offer before spending lapis and experience. The often-repeated estimate of 7–8% for Fortune III is not established here as a version-specific probability, so it should not guide your expectations.
Look for a Fortune book from a librarian
Librarians can offer enchanted books. If you obtain a Fortune book, use an anvil to apply it to an eligible tool. This can be a more targeted route than repeatedly trying the enchanting table, but exact emerald costs and the time required depend on your world and game version.

Check your villager settings before trying lectern rerolls
Community guides describe breaking and replacing a lectern to change an unemployed villager’s offers. Do not assume this works the same way in every edition or release: trade mechanics differ, and experimental villager trade rebalance can change the process. Check your edition, version and whether the experiment is enabled before following a reroll walkthrough. A trade you have already completed should not be assumed rerollable.
Keep fishing and loot as bonus chances
Fishing and generated structure chests can produce enchanted books or tools, but the cited guides do not establish a reliable Fortune III rate. Treat them as incidental opportunities while you play rather than a plan for obtaining the enchantment. A guide also reports raid-mob drops as an additional route in Bedrock Edition; verify that claim against your current release before relying on it.

What Fortune III does to selected ore drops
For the selected ore blocks covered by the Minecraft Wiki’s Fortune description, Fortune III can produce two, three or four drops; each of those multipliers is described as having a 20% chance for those blocks. This figure applies to the listed ore-drop mechanic, not every block or every effect of Fortune.
