Frightful, Spooky, and Eerie are most directly obtained with the Spooky Rod or their matching relic enchantments. Haunted follows a different, event-dependent route: after the FischFright 2025 appraisal period, look for Spectral Tide and other qualifying admin events.

How to get Frightful, Spooky, and Eerie
1. Fish with the Spooky Rod
The Spooky Rod is the most convenient all-purpose method for the 2025 FischFright mutations. Its passive lists:

During FischFright 2025, players obtained the rod by submitting 10 Witch’s Ingredients to the Fisch Witch, Beatrix. Because FischFright was a limited-time event, do not assume that Beatrix or the Spooky Rod quest is permanently available. If the event returns, check the Witch’s dialogue and the current event instructions rather than relying on the 2025 route being unchanged.
The Spooky Rod is especially useful if you want any of the three mutations rather than one specific result. Its listed chances should not automatically be treated as additive or as a guaranteed 30% mutation rate in every catch; the game’s current implementation would need to confirm how simultaneous passive rolls are handled.
2. Use the matching relic enchantment
The targeted alternative is to apply the relic associated with the mutation you want:

The matching relic is the most direct choice when you are targeting one mutation. If you already own the Spooky Rod, combining its built-in mutation effects with a matching enchantment may provide two listed sources of the same mutation attempt. However, do not promise that the percentages simply add together: the available information establishes that both effects list a 10% chance, not that the game combines them into a confirmed 20% chance.
The Eerie Relic has an additional advantage: Eerie is a secondary enchantment, so it can be paired with a primary enchantment. That makes it useful when you want Eerie without giving up another primary rod effect.

3. Use the FischFright appraiser while the event is active
During FischFright 2025, the event appraiser at Crook’s Hallow could appraise fish for Frightful, Spooky, and Eerie mutations. This was a seasonal event route, not proof of a permanent NPC feature.
Appraisal is therefore worth checking whenever FischFright is visibly running, but players should not travel to Crook’s Hallow expecting the old event appraiser to remain available after the event. The appraiser’s pool and costs can change in a rerun.
How to get the Haunted mutation
Haunted needs a separate, date-sensitive answer. FischFright 2025 guides reported that the Halloween event appraiser could produce Haunted along with Frightful, Spooky, and Eerie. That describes the event-period appraisal pool, but it does not establish that the seasonal appraiser is still available.
The current mutation reference categorizes Haunted as an admin-event mutation. The practical route after FischFright 2025 is to fish during a qualifying server event:
- Spectral Tide
- MAYHEM
- MEGA MAYHEM
- MADNESS
Among these, the current server-event information specifically associates Spectral Tide with Haunted, Soulless, Spectral, and Wisp mutation chances. Event availability is controlled by the live game, so watch the server-event notification and verify the active mutation pool before committing bait, time, or valuable fish.

- FischFright active: check the seasonal appraiser, because Haunted may return to the event pool.
- FischFright inactive: do not rely on the old Halloween appraiser. Look for Spectral Tide or another qualifying admin event instead.

Which setup should you use?
If you own the Spooky Rod
Use it when you want a flexible chance at Frightful, Spooky, or Eerie. For a specific target, add the corresponding relic if you have one. This gives you the rod’s listed passive and the enchantment’s listed chance, but the final probability should not be described as automatically doubled or added unless the live game confirms that behavior.
For Frightful, consider whether the mutation attempt is worth the Frightful enchantment’s resilience penalty. If catching the target fish is already difficult, a resilience-improving enchantment may be the better practical choice even if it gives up the targeted Frightful roll.
If you do not own the Spooky Rod
Use the matching relic for the mutation you want, provided you can obtain that relic through the currently available event shop or other live-game source. During FischFright 2025, the Flying Dutchman shop sold Halloween-related items for Candy, including relics. Candy came from Witch’s Ingredient submissions, Trick-or-Treating, quests, and Frightful Crates.
Because those were event systems, the shop inventory and acquisition methods may no longer be available. Check the current event shop before planning around a 2025 relic price or source.
If you are hunting Haunted
Prioritize event timing rather than a permanent rod or relic recommendation. Join a server with a qualifying admin event, confirm that Haunted is in the active mutation pool, and fish during that window. If FischFright returns, check its appraiser as an additional possibility, but treat that as a temporary event feature until the live game confirms otherwise.

What these mutations do
The current mutation reference lists Frightful, Spooky, Haunted, and Eerie as 6×-value mutations. That multiplier affects the value of an eligible fish; it does not mean every catch has a mutation or that the mutation can be forced on demand.

Common mistakes to avoid
- Assuming all four mutations come from one permanent NPC: the FischFright appraiser was seasonal, and Haunted’s current classification points to admin events.
- Calling the rod or relic chances guarantees: 10% is a chance per listed effect, not a guaranteed result after a fixed number of casts.
- Adding the rod and enchantment percentages without confirmation: two listed 10% effects do not automatically prove a 20% in-game rate.
- Using the 2024 Haunted Rod as a 2025 solution: it is no longer obtainable and its passive concerned Ghastly and Sinister mutations, not the Frightful, Spooky, Haunted, and Eerie set.
- Planning around old event prices or shops: the Flying Dutchman shop, Candy sources, Beatrix’s quest, and Crook’s Hallow appraisal were tied to FischFright 2025.
- Ignoring rod performance: the Frightful enchantment reduces resilience, while the Spooky Rod itself has negative resilience. A theoretically better mutation setup may be worse if it causes you to lose difficult catches.
