They are separate crafting materials, not interchangeable versions of one item. The Ascendance database reproduces the Frost Sac description as “A monster organ filled with extremely cold fluid. Handle with care.” Its Freezer Sac description is “A monster organ with tremendous chilling power. Flash-freezes its surroundings.”

How to get Frost Sac
Hunt Low Rank Hirabami
Low Rank Hirabami is a straightforward source. MHW Wilds Build reports a 23% chance for Frost Sac as a Low Rank Hirabami quest target reward; the Ascendance database also lists a 23% target reward chance and a 30% rotten carve chance. These are database-listed chances, not a guarantee on an individual hunt. MHW Wilds Build (data verified September 7, 2026, version 1.042) and the Ascendance database report the rates.
Hunt Low Rank Jin Dahaad
The Ascendance database lists Frost Sac from Low Rank Jin Dahaad: 40% from a carve, 22% as a target reward, and 100% from a severed-tail carve, including a rotten-tail carve. These figures describe listed reward slots; they do not mean every hunt yields a sac. See its Frost Sac entry.

How to get Freezer Sac
Hunt High Rank Hirabami
Game8 lists a 20% High Rank Hirabami target reward chance for Freezer Sac. The Ascendance database also lists multiple target-reward slots for the monster. Rates can vary by reward slot, so treat them as database-listed chances rather than a guaranteed result. Game8’s figure was updated October 7, 2026. Look for High Rank quest rewards
Several guide databases list quest routes in addition to hunts. GameWith names “Hirabami-tachi no Shukakusai” (Hirabami Harvest Festival), while Game8 lists optional and event quests. PowerPyx lists the ★4 optional quest “Fleeting Victory” as a guaranteed reward route, requiring Hunter Rank 9 and High Rank quest access; that guide was published February 26, 2025. Quest listings can change or rotate, so verify the current options at Alma’s quest counter or in the quest menu rather than assuming a named event is active. Choosing a farming route
- Prefer a monster hunt: Target either monster at the rank that matches the sac you need. Hirabami is a source at both ranks, but Low Rank yields Frost Sac and High Rank yields Freezer Sac.
- Prefer a particular reward type: The databases list target-reward and carve chances, including a high severed-tail carve chance for Frost Sac from Low Rank Jin Dahaad. These figures are not a promise of a drop on every hunt.
- Prefer a quest reward: Check the current quest menu for optional or event quests. A quest named in an older guide may not be available in the current rotation.
What do Frost Sac and Freezer Sac craft?
Both materials are used for equipment. The Ascendance database lists Frost Sac for seven weapons and Hirabami Headdress; examples include Frozen Speartuna I and Windclaw Blade I. It lists Freezer Sac for seven weapons, several armor pieces, and Escape Charm III; examples include Frozen Speartuna II, Windclaw Blade II, and Hirabami Mail α. Recipe coverage differs across databases, so check the in-game smithy for the exact item you want and the required quantity.
