Use different commands depending on your edition: Java Edition can create an enchanted armor item with /give and item components, while Bedrock Edition uses /enchant on the armor piece you are holding. “Fully enchanted” here means a practical set of eligible enchantments—not every protection type at once.
Choose the command for your edition

Check whether you are playing Java or Bedrock before copying a command. The syntaxes are not interchangeable.
Java Edition: give yourself an enchanted armor piece
In component-based Java versions, run this example to receive a netherite helmet with Protection IV, Respiration III, Aqua Affinity, Unbreaking III, and Mending:
/give @s minecraft:netherite_helmet[minecraft:enchantments={"minecraft:protection":4,"minecraft:respiration":3,"minecraft:aqua_affinity":1,"minecraft:unbreaking":3,"minecraft:mending":1}] 1

Run it where you have permission to use commands. Replace @s with a player selector or name if you want to target someone else, and change the item ID to the armor piece you want. For example, use minecraft:netherite_chestplate, minecraft:netherite_leggings, or minecraft:netherite_boots.
For each piece, keep only enchantments that apply to that slot. A practical set of eligible enchantments is:

- Helmet: Protection, Respiration, Aqua Affinity, Unbreaking, and Mending.
- Chestplate: Protection, Thorns, Unbreaking, and Mending.
- Leggings: Protection, Swift Sneak, Unbreaking, and Mending.
- Boots: Protection, Feather Falling, Depth Strider or Frost Walker, Soul Speed, Unbreaking, and Mending.
These are slot-based suggestions, not a guarantee that every listed combination will be accepted in every Java version. Check the game’s command feedback if a command is rejected. The snapshot documentation explains the component format, and Microsoft’s enchantment guide lists armor slots and enchantment effects.
Protection types are alternatives
Use one protection enchantment per piece: Protection, Fire Protection, Blast Protection, or Projectile Protection. They address different kinds of damage, so choose according to what you expect to face rather than trying to put all four on one item. The practical example above uses Protection.

Bedrock Edition: enchant armor you are holding
Bedrock’s documented /enchant command applies an enchantment to the item selected in your hand. Enable cheats, hold the armor piece, then enter the command using the enchantment name and level supported by your game.
- Hold the armor piece you want to enchant.
- Enter
/enchant <player> <enchantmentName> [level], replacing the placeholders with the target player and requested enchantment. For example, to apply Protection IV to your selected item, use/enchant @s protection 4. - Repeat for each eligible enchantment, then hold the next armor piece and continue.
Microsoft’s Bedrock command reference documents the command and its cheats requirement. Enchantment names and supported levels must be valid for the held item; the game reports invalid requests in command feedback.

Why older Java commands may fail
Older Java tutorials may show enchantments as an Enchantments tag in curly-brace item data. In the component-based format documented in Java Edition Snapshot 24w09a, item components instead go in square brackets after the item ID, as in the example above. Do not combine the old tag form with the new component syntax.
Java versions and snapshots can differ, so use syntax appropriate to your installed version and rely on the game’s command feedback if it rejects an item or enchantment combination. The snapshot source documents the format change; it does not establish that every possible loadout works in every later release.

What “fully enchanted” means here
There is no single official armor loadout that qualifies as universally “fully enchanted.” The useful interpretation is to add the applicable protection choice and the helpful slot-specific enchantments, then include durability enchantments such as Unbreaking and Mending. Your preferred protection variant and boot movement enchantment depend on the situation; Depth Strider and Frost Walker are alternatives rather than a single combined choice.
