To enter the normally locked room at Marnie’s Ranch, see Shane’s eight-heart event. First watch the follow-up visit after his six-heart event, then enter the ranch while Shane is home. Jas will lead you through the kitchen door.
How to unlock the door
- Build your friendship with Shane to eight hearts.
- See the follow-up visit after his six-heart event. Shane’s eight-heart event will not trigger until you have seen it.
- Enter Marnie’s Ranch while Shane is home. During the event, Jas leads you through the kitchen door that is normally locked.
The event account specifies that Shane must be home but does not give a universal time of day. If it does not trigger, check that you saw the six-heart follow-up and try again when Shane is at the ranch. See the Stardew Valley Wiki’s Shane page for the event and prerequisite details.

What happens inside
You find Shane painting a sign that reads “Fresh Eggs.” He is with his special blue chickens and his favorite white chicken, Charlie. Shane talks about teaching Jas to care for chickens so she can continue the tradition if he moves out.
How the event relates to blue chickens
After Shane’s eight-heart event, each chicken purchased from Marnie and each egg hatched in an incubator has a 25% chance of producing a blue chicken, according to the Stardew Valley Wiki’s Shane page. Blue chickens are otherwise identical to white chickens.
#1 Best Overall
- For 1 to 4 players
- Ages 13+
- About 45 minutes per player
- A cooperative board game
- Based on the hit video game
It is not unlocked by Marnie’s friendship
The door is tied to Shane’s event, not to reaching two hearts with Marnie. The scene is about Shane, Jas, and the chickens—not a treasure or equipment room. The Stardew Valley Wiki’s Marnie’s Ranch page identifies the location and its residents.
