Roblox describes classic-style avatars as around 5 studs tall and more humanoid-style proportions as around 6 to 6.5 studs, but avatar style and an experience’s settings can change the result.
Roblox’s broad height references
Roblox Creator Hub’s Avatar Settings documentation gives these approximate references:
- Classic-style avatars: around 5 studs tall.
- More humanoid-style proportions: around 6 to 6.5 studs tall.
Roblox presents these as guidance, not as a fixed height shared by every avatar. The figures describe broad styles; they do not establish the height of every player character in every experience.
Why other Roblox references use different numbers
Roblox’s body-asset materials refer to particular mannequins rather than all live player avatars. Its character body specifications and rigid accessory specifications give these approximate mannequin heights:

| Reference | Approximate height | What it describes |
|---|---|---|
| Classic mannequin | Roughly 4.75 studs | A body-asset scale reference. |
| Normal mannequin | Roughly 5.75–6.5 studs | A body-asset scale reference. |
| Slender mannequin | Roughly 5.25–6.25 studs | A body-asset scale reference. |
These values are not competing measurements of one standard Robloxian. A mannequin reference, a broad style estimate, and a character in a particular game are different things. Keep the source’s label beside its number rather than treating the figures as interchangeable.
Can a Roblox experience change avatar height?
Yes. In Studio’s Avatar Settings, creators can choose whether a character uses its natural avatar height or a custom scale range. Roblox’s AvatarSettingsScaleMode reference describes the two modes:
Rank #2
- Gold Series Roblox Neverland Lagoon: Crown Collector
- Player Choice: the character uses its natural avatar height.
- Custom Scale: the experience creator defines a height range in studs. Roblox says this option maintains proportions.
As a result, the height you see depends not just on the avatar’s body style but also on whether that experience allows player choice or applies its own range. The custom range is an experience setting, not a universal height for Roblox characters.

Not as a verified universal measurement from the Roblox references cited here. They express avatar scale in studs but do not establish a fixed real-world height for every Robloxian. A user-created experience listing claims that one stud equals 28 cm (11.0236 inches), but that claim is not official Roblox guidance and is not corroborated by the cited documentation. It should not be used to declare a Robloxian’s real-world height.

For a reliable answer, report the height in studs and name the reference: for example, “Roblox describes classic-style avatars as around 5 studs tall.” That preserves both the unit and the approximation without implying a real-world conversion.
Quick Recap
How to interpret a height claim
- Check whether the number describes a broad avatar style, a specific mannequin, or a character in one experience.
- Keep the style label with the number: Classic, Normal, Slender, or classic-style/humanoid-style.
- For an in-game character, account for the experience’s avatar scale settings.
- Use studs unless a source establishes a real-world conversion for the specific context.
