To play Mafia III at 60 FPS on Xbox Series X|S, install the separate Mafia III: Definitive Edition for Xbox Series X|S edition. The Xbox Store lists that version as supporting 60 FPS gameplay; it is distinct from the Xbox One edition. This is an edition and access issue, not a frame-rate setting you switch on in the game.
Find and install the Series X|S edition
- On your Xbox dashboard, search the Xbox Store for Mafia III: Definitive Edition for Xbox Series X|S.
- Open that product page. If your account is eligible, the page should offer the option to install the game.
- After installation, check that you selected the Series X|S edition, not the separately listed Xbox One game.
The Series X|S Store listing describes the edition as including the main game, story DLC and bonus packs, as well as 60 FPS gameplay and technical improvements.

If you cannot find it in your library
A reported workaround is to search for the product directly through the dashboard rather than relying on the library listing:
- Press Y on the Xbox dashboard.
- Type Mafia iii.
- Select Mafia iii Definitive Edition for Xbox Series X|S.
- Choose Show in Store to open the product page, then check whether it offers installation.
This navigation route has been reported as useful for digital owners, but Store presentation and access can vary. If the page does not recognize your ownership, contact current Xbox or 2K support rather than assuming the account qualifies.

What to expect at 60 FPS
The Series X|S edition is listed as supporting 60 FPS gameplay. That does not mean every sequence runs at that frame rate: some real-time cinematics reportedly run at 60 FPS, while prerendered movie sequences remain at 30 FPS.
The reported upgrade also includes fixes and improvements involving achievement tracking, story progression, visual consistency, stability, the user interface and gameplay issues. These are reported improvements, not separate settings you need to enable.

Digital owners
Digital owners may need to locate the Series X|S product page manually. Installation depends on whether the account is eligible; simply seeing the Xbox One edition in a library does not confirm access to the Series X|S edition.

Physical-disc owners
Disc-to-digital eligibility has been mentioned as a possible route, but it is not established for every disc owner. Xbox Series S has no disc drive, so a physical disc cannot be inserted there. Check the Store or contact Xbox or 2K support to confirm the options available for your account.
