There is no documented direct transfer of Mew from a Poké Ball Plus into Pokémon Sword or Shield. Pokémon Support’s documented accessory route is to transfer its Mew once into one copy of Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! or Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee!, then check that individual Pokémon’s compatibility in Pokémon HOME before attempting to move it to Sword or Shield. Keep the Let’s Go save file: deleting it after the transfer loses Mew.
Can you get Mew in Pokémon Sword and Shield?
It may be possible to use a particular Mew in Sword or Shield if Pokémon HOME lists the destination game as compatible for that Pokémon. But the documented Poké Ball Plus route does not send Mew straight into either game. It first sends Mew to one Let’s Go game, and the onward step depends on the individual Pokémon’s HOME compatibility.
Pokémon Support’s Poké Ball Plus article says Mew can be transferred only once into one Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! or Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee! (Pokémon Support: transferring Mew from Poké Ball Plus). Poké Ball Plus compatibility information for Sword and Shield does not establish that the accessory can transfer its Mew directly to those games (Poké Ball Plus Mew instructions; Poké Ball Plus compatibility).
How to move Poké Ball Plus Mew toward Sword or Shield
- Transfer Mew into one Let’s Go game. The documented destination is Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! or Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee!, not Sword or Shield. The same Poké Ball Plus cannot transfer that Mew again to another game.
- Keep the Let’s Go save file. Do not delete or restart the save containing Mew before arranging the onward move. Pokémon Support warns that deleting the save after transfer loses Mew, and the one-time accessory transfer cannot be repeated.
- Check that specific Mew in Pokémon HOME. On Nintendo Switch, open HOME, select the Pokémon, choose “Check Summary,” then press + to open “Connected Games.” Check that Sword or Shield appears in the compatibility list before relying on the transfer route. Pokémon Support describes this list as the way to see which games are compatible with a Pokémon (Pokémon HOME: check compatible games).
- Proceed only if Sword or Shield is listed. Use HOME’s connected-game workflow to move the Pokémon to the listed destination, following the prompts shown in the app. If the destination is not listed, the documented guidance does not establish that this Mew can be used in that game.
What if you have a Mew Mystery Gift code?
A valid Sword or Shield promotional code would be a separate route from transferring Poké Ball Plus Mew. Pokémon Support’s general code-redemption steps are: open the X menu, select “Mystery Gift,” choose “Get a Mystery Gift,” then “Get with Code/Password,” connect to the internet, enter the code, receive the gift, and save (Pokémon Support: Mystery Gift instructions for Sword and Shield).

Which route applies to you?
| Your situation | What to do | Key condition |
|---|---|---|
| You have Mew on a Poké Ball Plus | Transfer it first to one Let’s Go game, then check the Pokémon in HOME. | The initial transfer is one-time, and deleting the receiving save loses Mew. |
| You already have Mew in Pokémon HOME or another supported game | Check that individual Pokémon’s “Connected Games” list for Sword or Shield. | Do not assume eligibility from the Pokémon’s species alone. |
| You have a Sword or Shield Mystery Gift code | Redeem it through the game’s Mystery Gift menu. | A valid code is required; general redemption steps are not proof of an active Mew offer. |
