1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesYou can download Minecraft Education and try its sample lessons or free trial without a school email. For ongoing family or homeschool access, the documented route is to set up a Microsoft 365 organization account, buy commercial licenses, and assign a license to each user. That creates organization-managed sign-in credentials; it does not add a school license to a personal Minecraft account.

Download and try it without school credentials
- Open the official Minecraft Education download page and download the version offered for your device. The page displayed version 1.26.32 when checked; versions can change.

Set up ongoing family or homeschool access
The family guide describes a commercial route rather than a school account workaround. You create a Microsoft 365 organization in the Admin Center, purchase commercial licenses, create user accounts, and assign a license to each person who will use the app. The guide says account setup is free and does not itself require a purchase.
- Follow the family setup guide to establish the organization account in the Microsoft 365 Admin Center.
- Purchase commercial Minecraft Education licenses for the users who need access.
- Create those users in the organization and assign each a license before signing in.
- Sign in to Minecraft Education with the provisioned organization credentials.
Minecraft Education states that anyone with a Microsoft 365 account can purchase and use the product. Its licensing information also says a Microsoft 365 account is required to purchase and use it, and the service uses Office 365 services for authentication. In practice, the family route therefore means organization-managed Microsoft credentials, not a personal Minecraft account standing in for a school login. Check purchase availability before budgeting
The family setup guide, dated February 17, 2026, includes a temporary notice saying commercial purchases are unavailable “until September 4th,” but does not give a year. The licensing page advertises a commercial purchase route. Those published pages do not establish whether checkout is available right now, so verify the purchase option in the official flow before making plans around a payment.

Keep school pricing separate
The school direct-purchase price applies to qualified educational organizations with an annual commitment, not to families simply because a child attends school.
