Niantic’s official announcement places the event from Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. until Monday, October 19, 2026, at 8:00 p.m., using your local time. The event announcement names three ways to encounter Bramblin: standard Incense, GO Pass tasks, and event-themed Field Research.

The announcement lists Bramblin in the Incense encounter pool during both periods, but it specifically excludes Daily Adventure Incense. If you are trying to use Incense as your Bramblin route, use the regular Incense item rather than relying on Daily Adventure Incense.

Choose the route that fits your play session
Use standard Incense when you can actively play
Incense is the direct encounter route: activate a standard Incense during one of the two listed windows, watch for Bramblin, and catch every one that appears. The announcement does not promise a fixed number of Bramblin or a guaranteed encounter rate, so treat each appearance as an opportunity rather than a quota.
The two Incense periods meet at October 16 at 10:00 a.m. local time. If you are playing near that changeover, check the event clock in the game and use the period that is currently active. Once the event ends at October 19 at 8:00 p.m. local time, the announcement no longer guarantees Bramblin in this event Incense pool.
Complete GO Pass tasks for additional encounters
GO Pass progression gives you another path that does not depend solely on waiting for wild or Incense appearances. Work through the tasks shown in your GO Pass and claim each unlocked reward. Niantic’s announcement says Bramblin can be encountered through GO Pass tasks. It also says GO Pass Deluxe availability can vary by region, so the pass options and access you see may not match another player’s screen.

Do not leave an unlocked reward sitting unclaimed. The event’s GO Pass rewards expire on October 21, 2026, at 8:00 p.m. local time, which is later than the event’s final encounter time but still a firm cutoff for those rewards.

Check event-themed Field Research
Event-themed Field Research can also produce Bramblin encounters. Not every Field Research task is necessarily a Bramblin task: read the reward preview before deciding which tasks to pursue. The same event announcement notes that some event Field Research may award Rare Candy, so a task can be useful even when its reward is not a Bramblin encounter.
A practical step-by-step Candy plan
- Confirm the local event window. Open the event information in Pokémon GO and compare it with your local date and time. The official schedule ends October 19 at 8:00 p.m. local time.
- Prepare standard Incense. If you plan to use the Incense route, select the ordinary Incense item. Daily Adventure Incense is excluded from the Bramblin encounters listed for this event.
- Activate Incense during an active period. Bramblin is listed for October 13 at 10:00 a.m.–October 16 at 10:00 a.m. and for October 16 at 10:00 a.m.–October 19 at 8:00 p.m., all in local time.
- Open your GO Pass and work on its tasks. Complete the tasks that are available to your account, then claim rewards as soon as they unlock. Regional availability of GO Pass Deluxe can differ.
- Prioritize event-themed Field Research. Look at the displayed reward before committing to a task. Choose tasks that show a Bramblin encounter when your immediate goal is Bramblin Candy.
- Catch every Bramblin you encounter. Niantic Help explains the species-Candy rule directly: “Every time you catch a Pokémon of a particular species, you’ll receive Candy for that species.” A Bramblin catch therefore gives Bramblin Candy.
- Check your total in Bramblin’s summary. Select Bramblin in your Pokémon storage and read the Candy total shown on its summary screen. The evolution requirement displayed there is the authoritative value for your current game client.
- Claim remaining GO Pass rewards before the cutoff. Even if the event encounters have ended, rewards unlocked through the pass must be claimed by October 21 at 8:00 p.m. local time.
How encounters turn into Bramblin Candy
The event routes create opportunities to encounter Bramblin; the catch is what supplies species-specific Candy. This distinction matters when you compare the routes. Incense, GO Pass tasks, and Field Research are ways to obtain an encounter. They do not replace the catch step if your goal is Bramblin Candy from that encounter.
For example, completing a GO Pass task that reveals a Bramblin encounter gives you a chance to catch Bramblin. After you catch it, the normal species-Candy rule applies. The same logic applies to a Bramblin encounter from event Field Research or from standard Incense.
The event announcement also mentions Rare Candy among some Field Research and GO Pass rewards. Those are described as Rare Candy rewards, not as a guaranteed Bramblin Candy payout. Do not count a Rare Candy reward as Bramblin Candy merely because it came from the Bramblin event; verify how you intend to use it in the current game before treating it as part of your Bramblin total.

How much Candy is needed to evolve Bramblin?
A current third-party event guide reports that Bramblin evolves into Brambleghast for 50 Bramblin Candy after you walk 20 km with Bramblin as your buddy. That detail is useful for planning, but it is not stated in Niantic’s Fall Marathon: Buddy Trek announcement.
Use Bramblin’s own summary screen as the final check before you spend Candy or start a buddy-walking plan. Pokémon GO displays the Candy needed to evolve on the Pokémon’s summary, and that in-game value takes precedence if the event guide and your client differ. The summary also lets you verify that the buddy-walking condition has been credited before you try to evolve.
Why the buddy requirement changes your schedule
If your summary shows the reported 20 km condition, collecting 50 Candy is only one part of the preparation. You must also make Bramblin your buddy and accumulate the required distance. Start that process while the event is active if you want to combine Candy hunting with the event, but do not assume the event’s October 19 end date removes a requirement shown on your summary. The Candy target and the distance target are separate checks in the evolution screen.

How to use the event dates efficiently
If you play before October 16 at 10:00 a.m.
The first Incense period is active from October 13 at 10:00 a.m. through October 16 at 10:00 a.m. local time. Use standard Incense in that window, while also completing any GO Pass tasks and checking event Field Research. Keep track of rewards you unlock so they are not forgotten after the first period ends.

If you play from October 16 at 10:00 a.m. through October 19 at 8:00 p.m.
The second Incense period begins at 10:00 a.m. local time on October 16 and continues until the event closes at 8:00 p.m. local time on October 19. The announcement again lists Bramblin among the Incense encounters in this period. This is the final announced event window for using Incense to target Bramblin through this event.
If the encounter window has ended
After October 19 at 8:00 p.m. local time, the event’s announced Incense and Field Research availability no longer provides a current guarantee. You may still have GO Pass rewards waiting, but the pass deadline is October 21 at 8:00 p.m. local time. Open the pass and claim every unlocked reward before that time rather than assuming the rewards will remain available.

“I used Incense but did not see Bramblin.”
- Check that you used standard Incense, not Daily Adventure Incense; Daily Adventure Incense is excluded from the announced Bramblin pool.
- Verify the local date and time. Bramblin is listed for two specific Incense periods, and the event ends October 19 at 8:00 p.m. local time.
- Use the other announced routes as well. GO Pass tasks and event-themed Field Research are separate encounter sources.
“My Field Research task did not give Bramblin.”
Read the reward preview before completing a task. The announcement says event-themed Field Research can reward Bramblin encounters, not that every Field Research task does so. Some tasks instead award Rare Candy or another event reward.
“I completed a GO Pass task but cannot find the reward.”
Return to the GO Pass screen and claim any reward marked as unlocked. GO Pass rewards are not available indefinitely: the announced expiration is October 21, 2026, at 8:00 p.m. local time. If GO Pass Deluxe is not offered on your account, regional availability may be the reason.

“My Candy total is lower than expected.”
Check Bramblin’s summary screen after each catch. The species-Candy award is tied to catching the Pokémon, so an encounter that has not been caught does not add its Candy. Confirm that you are viewing Bramblin’s Candy total rather than another species’ total.
“The evolution button is still unavailable.”
Read the evolution panel on the Bramblin summary. It shows the Candy requirement and any buddy-walking condition for your current client. The reported guide requirement is 50 Bramblin Candy plus 20 km walked with Bramblin as buddy, but the in-game summary is the authoritative check.
A compact checklist for your next session
- Check whether your local time is within October 13 at 10:00 a.m. and October 19 at 8:00 p.m., 2026.
- Use standard Incense if you want the announced Incense encounter pool; do not rely on Daily Adventure Incense for Bramblin.
- Review GO Pass tasks, complete the relevant ones, and claim their rewards.
- Inspect event-themed Field Research reward previews for Bramblin encounters.
- Catch every Bramblin encounter to receive Bramblin Candy.
- Open Bramblin’s summary to verify Candy and evolution conditions.
- Claim all unlocked GO Pass rewards by October 21 at 8:00 p.m. local time.
What you actually need
No physical product is required for these methods. The routes described by the event announcement use in-game systems: standard Incense, GO Pass progression, and event Field Research. If you choose to pursue an encounter through a pass or an item, make that decision based on what appears in your own Pokémon GO account, since event access and GO Pass Deluxe availability can vary by region.
The dependable sequence is simple: create encounters through the available event routes, catch Bramblin, monitor the Candy total on its summary, and verify the evolution requirements in the game before using Candy.
