The character was added for the limited Cooking Event on August 9, 2025, and a 2026 secondary guide reports that the NPC is no longer active. The steps below describe the event’s documented process; current availability, event timing, and reward odds are unconfirmed.
How the Rat Connoisseur food turn-in works
The Rat Connoisseur’s documented role is to review mutated cooked food and let you pick a reward. A mutated crop on its own is not the item to submit: cook mutated harvested ingredients into a meal, then submit the meal if it has mutated. This process was documented for the Cooking Event, introduced August 9, 2025. Grow a Garden Wiki
How to make mutated food and submit it
-
Grow and harvest mutated crops
Mutations can come from pets, in-game conditions such as weather, gears, and special seeds. Which sources and strategies are available may change with updates, so use the methods present in your current game rather than assuming an older strategy still works. Beebom’s event guide
-
Cook the crops in the event pot
Put the mutated harvested crops into the Cooking Event pot and cook a meal. An older event guide says ingredients affect the chance that a mutation carries over to the food, and reports higher chances during Kitchen Storm. Those are historical event details, not verified current mechanics. Beebom’s event guide

Check the finished meal for a mutation
When cooking finishes, look for the game’s mutated-food indication. The documented turn-in requires a mutated meal; a mutated ingredient alone does not meet that step.
-
Equip and present the meal
Equip the mutated meal, approach the Rat Connoisseur, interact with the NPC, and choose “Try this food I cooked up!” In the documented interface, the NPC then presents three reward options and you select one. Grow a Garden Wiki

What rewards can you choose?
The wiki’s old event page lists virtual rewards including Gourmet Eggs, Kitchen Crates, Gourmet Seed Packs, a Culinarian Chest, seeds, cosmetics, and pets. Its pool and recorded odds are tied to that earlier event documentation; they should not be treated as current guarantees or used to rank the three choices for today. Grow a Garden Wiki
