Unlock Plasteel at Technology Level 50
Reach the required technology level
Plasteel is gated behind Technology Level 50. You will not be able to select its recipe before reaching that level, even if you already have Crude Oil, Ore, and an Electric Furnace. The level requirement is a player-progression gate rather than a workstation upgrade requirement.

Spend the two Technology Points
Once Level 50 is reached, open the Technology screen, locate Plasteel, and spend 2 Technology Points to learn it. Learning the technology makes the recipe available in an Electric Furnace; it does not create any Plasteel automatically, so you still need to supply both ingredients.
Check the panel after an update
Older guides can show different unlock positions or costs. Prima Games’ guide dated June 27, 2024 also places Plasteel at Level 50 for two points, while the current technology documentation lists a Plasteel technology entry. If your panel disagrees, follow the values displayed in your game and treat older screenshots as historical references.
Set up the Electric Furnace
Use the correct workstation
Plasteel is smelted in an Electric Furnace. A regular furnace or another metal-processing station will not satisfy the recipe. The official technology index lists the Electric Furnace as a separate technology, so verify that it is unlocked and built before transporting materials to your production base.
Provide power before loading materials
An Electric Furnace needs an operating power supply. Make sure the base’s power network is active and that the furnace is connected to it. If the station appears built but the recipe will not start, check the power assignment first rather than assuming the Plasteel technology failed to unlock.
Assign an appropriate worker
Assign a base worker with the required suitability for the Electric Furnace. The item and technology records list the workstation and ingredients but do not specify a universal production time or a single best worker. Use the suitability information shown by your current game version and keep the furnace staffed while you are producing a large batch.

Start the recipe
- Open the Electric Furnace at your base.
- Select Plasteel from the available recipes after learning its technology.
- Confirm that the input storage contains at least 2 Crude Oil and 5 Ore for each unit you queue.
- Set the desired quantity and start the job.
- Leave the furnace powered and staffed until the queue is complete, then move the finished Plasteel to secure storage.
No universal processing-time figure is published, so do not plan around a specific number of seconds per unit. Actual throughput can depend on your version, worker assignment, and base setup.

Farm Crude Oil first: the key bottleneck
Why oil controls your Plasteel output
Every unit consumes two Crude Oil, making oil the input that scales directly with every Plasteel target. Ore is also required, but a shortage of oil stops the recipe even when your ore storage is full. Plan your oil supply before committing to a large equipment craft.
Unlock an extraction route
The official technology index lists both a Crude Oil Extractor and a High-Pressure Crude Oil Extractor. These are the relevant technologies for building an ongoing oil supply. No universally superior base location or guaranteed extraction rate is published, so choose the extractor option available in your version and verify its requirements in the Technology panel.
Build an oil-to-furnace loop
A practical arrangement is to keep oil production, oil storage, and the Electric Furnace within the same base logistics network when your layout allows it. That reduces manual hauling between production sessions. If your oil operation is at another base, move oil in planned batches and keep a reserve rather than transporting only the exact amount for one queue.
Calculate the oil reserve before crafting
Multiply your intended Plasteel quantity by two to determine the Crude Oil requirement. The following planning table uses the current 2-to-1 oil ratio:

| Plasteel target | Crude Oil required | Ore required |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 2 | 5 |
| 10 | 20 | 50 |
| 25 | 50 | 125 |
| 50 | 100 | 250 |
| 100 | 200 | 500 |
These are direct recipe calculations, not claims about how quickly an extractor or furnace operates. Add a margin if you expect to make more items after the first queue, because stopping to refill oil interrupts the entire batch.
Secure the Ore supply
Match ore to the same production target
The recipe consumes five Ore per Plasteel. For every two units of Crude Oil you reserve, set aside five Ore as well. If you are preparing 25 Plasteel, for example, the matching stockpile is 50 Crude Oil and 125 Ore.
Use your established mining operation
The item record identifies Ore as a required input but does not specify a single node, biome, or mining route. Use the ore supply already supporting your base and equipment production, then move the material to the Electric Furnace’s storage area. Avoid treating an unverified location guide as a guaranteed source for every world seed or patch.
Balance both inputs
Check oil and ore together before starting a queue. Having enough of only one resource creates the same practical result: the furnace cannot complete the intended quantity. A simple storage label or written target—such as “50 oil and 125 ore for 25 units”—prevents accidental partial queues.

Prepare the base
- Confirm that Plasteel is learned at Level 50 for 2 Technology Points.
- Verify that the Electric Furnace is built and powered.
- Assign a suitable worker to the furnace.
- Place the required Crude Oil and Ore in accessible storage.
- Keep enough storage capacity for the finished material.
Queue a realistic batch
Start with a quantity that your current oil reserve can support. A small test queue confirms that the recipe, worker, and power network are functioning before you commit all of your materials. Once the first batch completes, increase the queue size to match your extractor and ore logistics rather than guessing at a throughput value.

Protect the finished material
Plasteel is a late-game progression material used by multiple weapons, armor, and equipment records. Move completed units into dedicated storage so they are not accidentally consumed as ordinary metal stock. Keep a written target for the next recipe you intend to craft, then replenish oil and ore before beginning another long queue.
What Plasteel is used for
Sakurajima-era progression
The Sakurajima update, released on June 27, 2024, raised the level cap to 55 and introduced new high-tier equipment and spheres that use Plasteel made from Crude Oil. That places Plasteel near the end of the normal technology climb: you unlock it at Level 50, then use it to pursue gear associated with the higher-cap content.
Expect several competing recipes
The item database lists Plasteel as an ingredient in multiple weapons, armor, and equipment entries. Because several recipes can draw from the same stockpile, decide which upgrade matters first instead of spending every unit immediately. The exact quantities for those downstream items are separate recipe values and should be read from their current in-game entries.
Do not confuse it with a general-purpose pickup
Plasteel’s role is manufactured progression material. It is not presented as a normal resource you collect from the ground, and the cited item entry lists no enemy-drop route. Your long-term supply therefore comes from maintaining the Crude Oil, Ore, furnace, power, and worker chain.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Why merchants and enemy hunting will not solve the shortage
Merchants cannot sell it
The Plasteel item entry explicitly states that it cannot be purchased from any merchants. Checking every shop for a hidden stock wastes time and does not replace the production setup. If you need more, increase your input supply and furnace capacity instead.

- Compatible with Wide Screens - To ensure compatibility with the dual monitor mount, your each monitor must meet three conditions at the same time: First, computer screens size range: 13 to 32 inches. Second, screen weight range: 4.4 to 19.8 lbs. Third, the back of the monitor screen must have VESA mounting holes with a pitch of 75x75mm or 100x100mm.
- Regarding the compatibility with desks - Your desk must meet three conditions at the same time: First, desk material: Only wooden desks are recommended, plastic or glass desks cannot be used. Second, desk thickness range: 0.59" - 3.54". Third, the bottom of the desk should not have any cross beams or panels, as this will interfere with installation. We recommend carefully checking that your desk and monitors meets all above conditions before purchasing.
- Dual C-Clamp Hold - Worried your dual monitors might wobble or slip? Our upgraded base uses a larger platform plus a dual C-clamp structure to lock the dual monitor arm firmly to your desk. Each arm safely keeps your screens steady while you type, click and game—no shaking, no sliding, just a clean and secure setup you can trust every day. It also provides Grommet Mounting installation choice, both options ensure stable and secure fixation for your 0.59" - 3.54" desk.
- Full-Motion Adjustment For Comfortable View - Pull the screen closer when you’re deep in a spreadsheet, push it back to watch videos, or rotate to portrait for coding — moving everything smoothly with just one hand. The monitor stand offers +85°/-50° tilt, ±90° swivel and 360° rotation. Raise your monitor up to 15.75″ to support a healthy sitting posture. Whether you’re working from home, gaming through the night, or switching between video calls and documents, getting the screens to your natural line of sight helps relieve neck, shoulder and back strain so you can stay focused longer with less fatigue.
- Keep Your Desk Organized: By lifting both screens off the desktop, this dual monitor stand opens up valuable space for your keyboard, notebook, docking station or a simple, clutter-free work area. Built-in cable management guides wires along the arms, keeping cords out of sight and out of the way. Enjoy a tidy, modern workstation that looks as good as it feels to use.
No listed enemy-drop method
The current item record does not list an enemy that drops Plasteel. Do not build a farming route around combat drops unless a later game update adds one and your in-game database confirms it.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →No ordinary world-pickup route is established
The cited acquisition information identifies crafting as the route and does not describe Plasteel as a regular world pickup. Exploration can still support your wider resource economy, but it is not an established substitute for smelting this item.
Troubleshoot a missing or stalled recipe
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Plasteel does not appear in the recipe list | The technology is not learned or the player is below Level 50 | Open Technology, confirm Level 50, and verify that the 2-point unlock was purchased. |
| The furnace rejects the job | Wrong workstation | Use an Electric Furnace rather than a standard furnace. |
| The queue stops immediately | Missing Crude Oil or Ore | Count inputs at 2 Crude Oil and 5 Ore per planned unit. |
| The furnace is idle despite materials | No power or no suitable assigned worker | Inspect the base power connection and worker suitability. |
| You can craft only part of the requested batch | One input runs out first | Compare your reserves with the quantity table and refill the limiting resource. |
| Your numbers differ from an older guide | A patch changed the recipe or unlock data | Read the current in-game technology and item panels before farming. |
If the display still looks inconsistent after these checks, close and reopen the technology and furnace panels, then inspect the recipe again. The panel for your installed version takes precedence over a guide written for an earlier build.
Version notes and patch-proof planning
What the June 2024 update changed
Sakurajima’s June 27, 2024 release is the key context for Plasteel’s role. Its update information records the level-cap increase to 55 and describes new high-tier equipment and spheres made with Crude Oil-derived Plasteel. This explains why the material appears as a late-game requirement rather than an early crafting resource.
Verify live values before a major farm
Recipe values, technology costs, and station requirements can be revised. Before building a large extraction operation, open the Technology panel and the Plasteel entry in your current game. Confirm the level, point cost, workstation, and per-unit inputs, then adjust your reserve calculations if any value has changed.
Do not assume a universal “best” base
No universally best oil location, guaranteed production speed, or single optimal worker arrangement is published. Treat location and throughput advice as version- and setup-dependent. The durable decisions are the ones the records support: unlock at Level 50, spend two points, use an Electric Furnace, and supply the listed oil and ore quantities.
