Where to find Rosaries while exploring
Rosaries turn up as loose currency and inside breakable or interactable objects. Check side paths and alcoves, and investigate anything that looks like a bead cache rather than rushing through the room.
- Hanging strings and caches: Strike them, then pick up the beads they scatter.
- Breakable objects: Rosary-bearing rocks, sacks, cymbals, buckets, and bells appear in particular locations. Examples are found across areas including Marrow, Bone Bottom, Far Fields, Greymoor, Bilewater, Putrified Ducts, Blasted Steps, Sinner’s Road, Mount Fay, Whispering Vaults, and Bellhart. Contents vary by object and location; none of these object types has one fixed payout. Hollow Knight Wiki’s Rosaries reference lists examples.
- Chests and glowing item spots: Some chests contain Rosaries, while glowing finds can hold stored items such as a Rosary Necklace. PC Gamer’s Silksong guide covers these exploration finds.
Loose beads can roll along the floor, be destroyed by spikes, or be lost when Hornet leaves the room. Gather them before moving on. The Magnetite Brooch attracts dropped Rosaries toward Hornet after a delay, making it useful when drops spread out; it does not replace checking a room before you leave. Earn Rosaries from enemies
Certain enemies drop Rosaries when defeated, so fighting enemies on your regular route can add currency without a separate detour. Not every enemy is a source of Rosaries.

- Thief’s Mark: Increases enemy Rosary drops. Its cost is a risk: while equipped, Hornet loses 3.5% of her carried Rosaries each time she takes damage. Consider it when you can avoid hits and do not carry an amount you cannot afford to lose. The Rosaries reference documents the effect and penalty.
- Snitch Pick: Enemies hit by Clawline drop some Rosaries before they die, but this tool does not increase their total possible drop. It changes when some currency appears, not the enemy’s total payout. The Rosaries reference describes this interaction.
Use Rosary Strings and Necklaces as protected savings
Rosaries attached to a string are protected from being dropped on death, but you cannot spend those beads until you break the string. A Rosary Necklace is another stored-currency item: consuming one gives 120 Rosaries. These items are reserves, not a way to turn a purchase into more currency.

Values and acquisition details are listed in the Rosaries reference and the Rosary Necklace reference. A string or Necklace can still be useful when found or received as a reward, because it stores currency safely; buying either only to cash it out is a loss.

Check Wishes and valuables for additional currency
Some Wishes reward Rosary items, and certain valuables can be sold to the relevant characters for Rosaries. Treat these as additional sources alongside exploration and combat, rather than assuming every Wish or valuable pays out in currency. The Rosaries reference and the Necklace reference document these reward routes.
Make a safer farming route
There is no single established best farming route for every save: the areas, tools, and travel options available depend on progression, and reported route yields are estimates rather than guaranteed payouts. The practical starting point is to clear Rosary-bearing objects and eligible enemies along the route you are already taking. If you add a dedicated loop, choose an area you can reach reliably and account for the return or reset time; do not count on a particular yield unless you have verified it in your own run.

What Rosaries are used for
Rosaries pay for goods and tolls and activate some travel stations, benches, and machines. Beads come in denominations of 1, 5, and 15, so a group of beads may represent different values. Pebb’s dialogue describes them as “finely carved beads of prayer” and offers to trade for them; this is in-game dialogue, not a separate rule about how currency is earned. The Rosaries reference lists their uses and denominations.
