How to earn Skill Points
Level up
Leveling is one of the core Skill Point sources. Blizzard’s 2026 skill-tree update states that the level cap is 70. Blizzard’s skill-tree update describes up to 83 available Skill Points, but does not explain how that figure relates to seasonal rewards announced separately.

Claim Zone Progress rewards
Zone Progress Rewards are another stated source of Skill Points. Check the Zone Progress panel for your region and claim rewards as you meet its objectives. Blizzard’s earlier game overview establishes this source category; it should not be used to infer current totals or caps.
Which realm’s rewards apply?
Eternal Realm: claim regional Renown rewards
On the Eternal Realm, complete regional progression and claim the Renown rewards that grant Skill Points. Blizzard’s documented carryover rules state that earned Renown Skill Points persist across characters, and a later Realm update says Renown now stands permanently in the Eternal Realm. Seasonal Realm: earn rewards through Season Rank
Seasonal Renown was replaced by Season Rank as the path for seasonal Skill Point rewards. The Season Rank track changes by season, so check the current season’s reward listing rather than relying on a previous season’s objectives. For Season 15, Blizzard lists up to 14 Skill Points among its Season Rank rewards. Its overview says approximately 15% of objectives require Lord of Hatred, including objectives needed to complete Rank VIII and claim every Season Rank reward. How many Skill Points can you get?
Blizzard’s 2026 skill-tree announcement says up to 83 Skill Points are available. Separately, the Season 15 overview lists up to 14 Skill Points in that season’s Season Rank track. The public announcements do not clarify whether or how those figures overlap, so do not add them together as a confirmed all-realm maximum.

The Season 15 article lists nine ranks and 125 objectives. That is the structure of that season’s reward track, not a universal count for future seasons. Blizzard’s seasonal objectives and rewards may change when the season changes.

Having a Skill Point lets you spend it within the skill system, but it does not automatically unlock every skill-tree option. Blizzard says Lord of Hatred is required to access all three Bonus Skill Variants; without the expansion, two of the three are available. The expansion also affects access to some Season 15 objectives needed for the complete Season Rank reward track.
