Rainbow Six Siege is a team-based 5v5 objective game: attackers and defenders use distinct Operators, gadgets, information, and destructible environments to shape each round. New and returning players can learn its rhythm in Tutorials and Training, practice against AI where available, then move into Quick Match or Unranked before taking on Ranked.
Understand the round before choosing an Operator
Ubisoft describes Siege as “tactical 5v5 attack vs defense gameplay,” built around close-quarters combat, Operators with distinct abilities, customizable loadouts, and destructible environments (Ubisoft’s game overview). The objective is the anchor for each round: your team’s abilities and decisions should help it reach or protect that objective.

Information is useful when it changes what your team does next. Pay attention to what you can see or hear, communicate relevant observations, and coordinate before committing to a route or fight. This is a practical way to apply Siege’s team structure, not a guarantee of winning; a useful callout helps teammates make a better-informed decision.

Start with Tutorials and Training
Use the in-game Tutorials and Training options to get comfortable with movement, aiming, basic map orientation, and the information tools available in your current build. The goal is to understand the sequence of a round and how your actions support the objective—not to memorize every map or ability at once.

Practice against AI if the playlists are available
Ubisoft’s Operation Daybreak page describes Enlisted as aimed at new players and Field Training as offering options such as AI difficulty and map selection. These playlists can provide a lower-pressure way to practice routes and map familiarity. Availability and labels can change, so check the current in-game menu and Ubisoft’s mode and access information.
Choose a mode for the kind of practice you need
Ubisoft lists Quick Match, Unranked, Deathmatch, Events, Tutorials, Training, Custom Game, and Dual Front among the modes available through free access; its page says Ranked and Siege Cup require an upgrade. The exact offer and mode lineup can change, so confirm current terms before buying or planning around a playlist (Ubisoft’s current access page).

Build a small, useful Operator pool
Siege’s Operators bring distinct abilities and customizable loadouts. Rather than trying to learn the entire roster immediately, choose a manageable set whose gadgets serve clear team roles. Learn what each ability contributes to the objective, then practice using it on familiar maps. The right choice depends on the round, map, and team’s needs; there is no single universally best Operator established here.

- Learn a few attackers and defenders well enough to understand their basic contribution.
- Use practice rounds to connect an ability to a concrete objective or information need.
- Expand your pool as your map knowledge and comfort with team coordination improve.
Move from practice to human matches, then consider Ranked
- Complete Tutorials and use Training to get comfortable with basic movement, aiming, map orientation, and information tools.
- If available, try Enlisted or Field Training against AI; use map selection and difficulty options where the current playlist provides them.
- Play Quick Match or Unranked to encounter human opponents and practice coordination before entering competitive modes.
- Once you understand the round flow, common routes on familiar maps, and the role of your chosen Operators, review the current Ranked access requirements and decide whether to move up.
This progression is a learning path, not a mandatory game rule. Current mode availability, access conditions, and progression gates are described on Ubisoft’s live game page.

Where to play and what may change
Ubisoft’s June 4, 2025 launch announcement listed PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Ubisoft Connect, Epic Games Store, and Steam on Windows PC. It also said players who bought and played before Siege X launched kept their progression, inventory, and Operators (Ubisoft’s Siege X launch announcement). Treat that platform list and carry-over statement as historical launch information, not a guarantee about current regional access or editions. Check Ubisoft’s current game page and your platform’s store for availability and terms.
As of October 8, 2026, Ubisoft’s seasons page lists Operation Split Fire as Year 11 Season 3, released September 1, 2026. Its listed features include Operator Noor, a Ranked Legend Division, a 3v3 arcade mode, Villa updates, and balancing changes (Ubisoft’s seasons page). This is a dated snapshot: Operators, maps, playlists, balance, and access can change with updates.
