Windows Errors? Fix Them Before They Spread

One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchFor an older PS4 RPG on PS5 Pro, start with the console’s automatic resolution, calibrate HDR on the display you actually use, and leave RGB Range on Automatic. If your TV supports 4K or 1440p, you can also try Enhance Image Quality for PS4 Games—but compare it in your game, because it is a compatibility option, not a guaranteed upgrade for every title or screen.
Start with the console’s detected video signal
Connect the PS5 Pro to the TV or monitor, then open Settings > Screen and Video > Video Output. This screen reports the current signal and the capabilities the console detects from the connected HDMI device. PlayStation says the console selects the highest available resolution when Resolution is set to Automatic; that is the best baseline unless you are diagnosing a problem or have a specific reason to choose a fixed resolution. See PlayStation’s resolution and video-output guide.
For 4K output, the display must support 4K and the output settings must allow it. If the console offers a lower resolution than expected, check the TV’s specifications and manual: HDMI capabilities can differ by port, and some TVs require a setting to be enabled for a port to accept advanced video features.
Decide whether to use PS4-game image enhancement
On PS5 Pro model group CFI-7000, Enhance Image Quality for PS4 Games is available when the connected display supports 4K or 1440p. Turn it on to try the feature, then compare the same scene in the RPG with it enabled and disabled. If you see unexpected gameplay behavior, PlayStation advises turning it off. The option is not proof that every PS4 game will look better to every viewer.

Find the option in Settings > Screen and Video > Video Output. If it is unavailable, check the console model group and the detected display resolution support. PlayStation’s official PS5 video-output instructions cover the setting and its compatibility conditions.
Calibrate HDR for your actual display and game
Use the PS5’s Adjust HDR control with the TV or monitor in the picture mode you use for gaming. HDR appearance depends on the display, so there is no source-supported universal set of numeric calibration values for older RPGs. If the game has its own HDR calibration, set it within that game rather than borrowing numbers from another title or television.

- Haptic feedback - Feel physically responsive feedback to your in-game actions with dual actuators which replace traditional rumble motors. In your hands, these dynamic vibrations can simulate the feeling of everything from environments to the recoil of different weapons. .Operating temperature : 41 °F to 95 °F (5 °C to 35 °C)
- Adaptive triggers - Experience varying levels of force and tension as you interact with your in-game gear and environments. From pulling back an increasingly tight bowstring to hitting the brakes on a speeding car, feel physically connected to your on-screen actions.
- Built-in microphone and headset jack - Chat with friends online using the built-in microphone or by connecting a headset to the 3.5mm jack. Easily switch voice capture on and off at a moment’s notice with the dedicated mute button. Internet and account for PlayStation Network required.
- DualSense Controller PS5 and PC compatible. Not compatible with PS4.
- PS Remote Play requires Remote Play App connected to Wi-Fi, PS4 or PS5 console with the latest system software and compatible game. A PS4 or PS5 console with a wired connection via a LAN cable is recommended. Version 4.0 of the Remote Play App on iOS and iPadOS or version 4.1 on macOS is required for games to be playable with the controller over Bluetooth.
The console offers two HDR behaviors:
- On When Supported: HDR output is used for content that supports HDR; unsupported SDR content remains SDR.
- Always On: the console converts SDR games and apps to HDR output.
Compare these modes on your own display. Always On changes how SDR content is output; it is not inherently more accurate or better-looking than leaving SDR content in SDR. See PlayStation’s explanation of HDR settings.
Keep RGB Range on Automatic unless there is a mismatch
Set RGB Range to Automatic as the normal choice. PlayStation’s instruction is: “Change this only when you use an HDMI device that doesn’t send RGB range information correctly.” If blacks look crushed or washed out, check that the console and display agree on the video range before changing unrelated controls such as sharpness or contrast. Do not choose Full or Limited as a universal recommendation; the correct match depends on the connected equipment.

Enable refresh and latency features only when supported
VRR and 120 Hz output require a compatible display, and 120 Hz also requires a game that supports it. ALLM requires a compatible TV. These features can affect smoothness or latency, but they are not universal picture-quality improvements for an older RPG; leave them off if the TV or game does not support them, or if enabling them causes output problems. Check the game’s graphics options as well: where it offers a choice, compare its image-detail and frame-rate tradeoff rather than assuming one mode is best.

If the PS5 Pro does not offer or maintain a 4K 120 Hz signal, troubleshoot the connection before buying anything. PlayStation recommends the included cable or an Ultra High Speed HDMI cable rated for 4K 120 Hz for this signal. A working included cable does not need replacing just to improve an RPG’s picture.

- Confirm that the TV or monitor supports 4K at 120 Hz and check for relevant firmware updates.
- Use the HDMI input specified by the display manual for the required capabilities, and enable any port-specific setting the manual calls for.
- For diagnosis, connect the PS5 Pro directly to that display input rather than through an AV receiver, soundbar, switch, or capture device.
- Use the included cable or a cable with the stated Ultra High Speed rating, then review the detected signal at Settings > Screen and Video > Video Output.
These steps address a missing or downgraded signal, not a general need to upgrade equipment. The port, intermediary devices, display support, and cable all affect whether the console can negotiate the desired format. Details are in PlayStation’s troubleshooting guidance.
