To get the Drill in Fisch, travel to the dock beside the lighthouse in Roslit Bay and speak with Dr. Glimmerfin. Complete his dialogue or submarine-related quest interaction; guides report that the Drill is then added to your inventory or hotbar. Its original purpose was to mine obsidian for the parts needed to assemble the submarine that takes you to Mariana’s Veil.
Where to find Dr. Glimmerfin
Go to Roslit Bay and look for the dock near the lighthouse. Dr. Glimmerfin is the NPC associated with the submarine quest and the Drill. Interact with him to start or continue that sequence. Fischepedia’s Dr. Glimmerfin page describes his location and quest role.
How to receive the Drill
- Visit the dock by Roslit Bay’s lighthouse.
- Speak with Dr. Glimmerfin. Complete the dialogue or quest interaction rather than leaving partway through.
- Check your inventory or hotbar. Guides report that the Drill is granted after the interaction.
The Drill is an in-game item, not a real-world tool or purchase. The NPC interaction is the reported way to obtain it. Fischepedia’s submarine guide describes the Drill as part of the submarine progression.
What the Drill was used for
In the original submarine assembly flow, the Drill was used on obsidian rocks around Roslit Bay to collect five components:

Once collected, attach the components to the submarine at the dock, then speak with Dr. Glimmerfin to complete that sequence. A 2025 Roblox Den guide reported a 5% part chance per obsidian rock, but that is a historical, source-specific figure—not a verified current drop rate. Roblox Den’s Drill guide describes that earlier mechanic.
What to do if obsidian or drilling is unavailable
Players have reported that obsidian mining has not always been available. A guide published in October 2025 said drilling was disabled at that time and pointed players to the code TemporarySubmarine for the submarine parts. Community-maintained Fisch references updated in 2026 also mention it as a fallback. These reports do not establish that the code is currently redeemable or that mining is disabled in every present-day server or build.

TemporarySubmarinethrough the game’s code-redemption feature. The code’s current validity has not been confirmed by an official current status notice, so it may not work. - If neither route works, check current in-game announcements or quest behavior. The available reports do not establish another guaranteed way to obtain the parts.
For the historical disabled-mining report, see Droid Gamers’ October 2025 Drill guide. The code fallback is also mentioned on Fischepedia’s Mariana’s Veil page; it should be treated as a community-reported workaround, not a confirmed current mechanic.
