The Dumpster Dive Sprite is a chance-based find in Fortnite. Current guides report possible appearances from Cheat Codes, seasonal Pumpkin Chests, rare blue chests, gold fishing spots, roaming Sprite spawns and, in one account, defeated opponents or bosses. No reviewed source confirms a fixed location, guaranteed route or drop rate.
What the Dumpster Dive Sprite is
Dumpster Dive is one of the community-designed Sprites created for Fortnite’s Season 4 Sprite generation. Epic identifies StinkyPrincessGoose as its designer and says the five winning designs were scheduled to arrive through mid-season updates. Epic also says it received more than 20,000 community Sprite designs.
The wider Sprite system is seasonal. Epic has said Sprites from past generations may return in later seasons, but that statement is not a promise that Dumpster Dive will be available in every future update.
Where it can appear
These are reported opportunities rather than guaranteed spawn points. A match can provide none of them.

Do not treat the name as a literal instruction to search dumpsters. The guides describe Dumpster Dive as part of Fortnite’s in-match Sprite systems; its dumpster theme is tied to its effect, not a confirmed dumpster interaction.
A practical match-by-match method
- Start a Battle Royale match during the active Sprite content. Fortnitemares 2026 descriptions cover this item, but seasonal availability can change by update.
- Check every reported source as you rotate. Use Cheat Codes, search Pumpkin Chests and rare blue chests, fish at gold spots, and watch for a roaming Sprite. If you are already fighting opponents or bosses, check for any reported drop afterward.
- Interact with the raccoon-like Sprite when it appears. There is no evidence that one route is guaranteed, so repeated matches and broad searching are the practical approach.
- Choose your objective immediately. Keep the Sprite for its gameplay effect, or carry it to an extraction site if you are pursuing the separate Jimothy reward.
What Dumpster Dive reportedly does
Beebom’s current guide associates this Sprite with food and hiding spots: food can provide bonus healing, and leaving a hiding prop can produce food. The guide also reports a smaller chance of food appearing from containers.

Do you need to extract it?
No, not to obtain or use the Sprite. Extraction matters for the separately reported Jimothy unlock.

How the Jimothy unlock is reported to work
- Find any Dumpster Dive Sprite variant.
- Carry it to a physical Extraction Site.
- Complete the extraction there.
- Return to the Locker and check for Jimothy.
VICE reports that a portable extractor did not count in its test, so use the physical site if Jimothy is your goal. The report says any Dumpster Dive variant worked for the hidden “Extract A Silly Little Guy” quest. A second guide also describes extraction as the Jimothy unlock condition.
Timing and availability
The guides place this content in Fortnitemares 2026. One guide estimates a Jimothy free-unlock window of October 1–31, 2026, but the Epic announcement reviewed here does not verify that deadline. Check the live in-game event text or a current official Fortnite announcement before relying on a specific end date.

If you cannot find one
- Try another match rather than assuming a location is missing; no fixed spawn is established.
- Search more than one source type in the same match, especially Cheat Codes, Pumpkin Chests and rare chests.
- Fish only at gold spots when available, since ordinary fishing is not identified as the same route.
- Recheck the event’s current availability after an update; seasonal Sprite pools can change.
- If Jimothy is the objective, do not substitute a portable extractor for the physical Extraction Site.
The Bottom Line
Find Dumpster Dive through the game’s chance-based Sprite sources—most notably Cheat Codes, Pumpkin Chests, rare chests, gold fishing spots or a roaming spawn. Extraction is optional for the Sprite itself, but the reported Jimothy quest requires carrying one to a physical Extraction Site.
