When do you get a horse in Diablo 4?
The mount is not available at the start of the campaign. According to Wowhead’s mount walkthrough, Mount: Donan’s Favor becomes available after you have progressed through Acts II and III and completed the main quest A Master’s Touch. If Donan’s Favor has not appeared, continue the main story and check your quest log for the mount quest as you advance.

How to complete Mount: Donan’s Favor
- Progress the campaign: Complete Acts II and III, including A Master’s Touch, as described in Wowhead’s walkthrough.
- Find the mount quest: Look for Mount: Donan’s Favor in your quest log once it becomes available.
- Go to Kyovashad: Follow the quest instructions to the Stable Master.
- Finish the Stable Master interaction: Complete the quest there to unlock your first horse.
Blizzard’s launch overview describes mounts generally as unlocked by completing a questline while progressing through the main story. It does not specify the quest name or walkthrough steps; those details are attributed above to Wowhead.
Is the horse quest different from getting a mount appearance?
Yes. Completing Donan’s Favor unlocks basic mount access; optional mount types, armor, and trophies are customization rewards, not requirements for earning your first horse. Blizzard lists these as mount customization options in its mount overview.

Are promotional mounts another way to unlock the horse?
Promotions can offer specific mount appearances, but they are separate from the campaign quest that unlocks basic mount access. For example, Blizzard’s Orichalcum Speckled Mare promotion required buying or gifting two Twitch subscriptions and ended in February 2024. That offer is historical, not an active way to claim the standard horse.
