Most armor in Assassin’s Creed Shadows comes from randomized loot, so it does not have one fixed map location. The dependable location targets are named, predetermined pieces—often Legendary gear in castle chests. Below are the specific locations established for several pieces, with headgear and body armor treated separately. This is a verified selection, not a complete current-game inventory: the available guides do not establish one authoritative list covering every item, update, and expansion.
How armor locations work
Ubisoft distinguishes randomized loot from predetermined items, which are often Legendary gear placed at specific targets or in castle chests. The Objective Board and World Map can help point to those fixed opportunities. A random armor drop should not be treated as having a guaranteed location. Ubisoft’s progression guide explains the distinction.
Armor is character equipment with a level, quality, stats, and perks. Ubisoft says item icons indicate whether world-looted gear is usable by Naoe or Yasuke. Check the character and slot before pursuing a piece; a set’s headgear and body armor may be in different places.

The two Tools Master pieces are separate finds, not a single set chest. The Noh Masterstroke directions come from a guide with uneven machine-translated wording, so confirm landmark names and the route on the in-game map. Push Square’s base-game location guide also lists pieces for sets such as Mamushi Snake, Peasant, Yurei-Walker, Swift Shinobi, Onna-musha, Last Dance of the Onryo, Ship Captain, and Protector; consult its individual entries for their item-and-location pairs: Push Square’s Legendary armor locations. How to choose and maintain armor
Compare the piece, not just the set name
Ubisoft describes equipment slots for headgear, armor, weapons, and a trinket or amulet; levels, quality, and stats contribute to character stats. When weighing armor options, compare character compatibility, slot, perk, and the effort or risk involved in reaching the location. A perk that suits your play style can matter more than wearing two pieces with the same set name.

Push Square notes that wearing both pieces of a Legendary armor set does not grant an additional set bonus. You can mix headgear and body armor to suit your build rather than treating a matching pair as mandatory.
Upgrade gear and change its appearance
Ubisoft recommends upgrading favored equipment at the Hideout Forge to keep it useful as you progress. Building the Forge also unlocks transmog from the inventory menu, letting you use another item’s appearance independently of the equipped item’s stats. What this list does—and does not—cover
Push Square’s page is dated March 20, 2025, describes itself as a guide to every Legendary Armor Set, and also says it was under construction at that time. It is a useful base-game location reference, not proof of a complete inventory. A March 26, 2025 video description claims 20 base-game Legendary sets, but that is a creator-provided count rather than an official Ubisoft total: HarryNinetyFour’s video description.
Do not treat a base-game list as a complete list for the current game. Ubisoft says the Claws of Awaji expansion is available and adds a region, but its game page does not provide a complete inventory or locations for expansion armor. It also mentions Legendary gear and weapon sets for both characters as premium-edition content. Check the in-game map and Objective Board for the content available in your edition; the official game page is Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Shadows page.
