To unlock the ARC Raiders Outpost, complete the Sheltered Retreat project: photograph a farmland house near Ruined Homestead on Blue Gate, turn in 3 Planks, 5 Sheet Metal, 10 ARC Alloy, and 3 Advanced Electrical Components, then complete its combat objectives. Room expansions and Research Station upgrades use separate recipes, so check each live upgrade screen before you commit materials.
Unlock the Outpost by completing Sheltered Retreat
The Outpost unlock is a three-stage project. The material hand-in is only the middle stage; the photo and combat objectives are also required. Dot Esports’ guide, updated October 8, 2026, reports these steps:
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
- Photograph a farmland house. Find a farmland house around Ruined Homestead on Blue Gate and take a photo. The guide says you can get a camera from Shani or acquire one through the Sizing Things Up quest.
- Submit the building materials. Turn in 3 Planks, 5 Sheet Metal, 10 ARC Alloy, and 3 Advanced Electrical Components.
- Complete the combat objectives. Deal 800 damage to flying ARC enemies and 300 damage to the Bully.
The project’s stated material quantities are distinct from the costs for adding rooms or improving the Research Station. Keep those upgrade recipes separate when planning what to collect.

Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →That order matters when planning what to do next. The camera and farmland-house photo are the first hurdle, the four-item building-material hand-in is the second, and the damage goals are the final reported stage. If you have not completed the photo step, gathering every building material will not by itself finish the project. Likewise, turning in the materials does not replace either combat requirement. Treat the listed amounts as the Sheltered Retreat recipe, not as a general Outpost upgrade budget.

The photo instruction is specific about the target area: it is a farmland house around Ruined Homestead on Blue Gate. The guide identifies two ways to get the camera—buy it from Shani or obtain it through Sizing Things Up. It does not say that a particular house is the only valid target, so focus on finding a farmland house in the reported area rather than assuming a named building is required.
The combat stage has two separate damage totals: 800 damage to flying ARC enemies and 300 damage to the Bully. Those numbers describe damage objectives, not a required number of kills. The guide does not provide a deadline, preferred weapon, or a guaranteed encounter route, so use the project tracker in-game to confirm which objective still needs progress.
Where to find each Sheltered Retreat material
| Material | Project amount | Reported source | What to know |
|---|---|---|---|
| Planks | 3 | Containers, especially in Industrial POIs; Celeste sells them | Celeste’s reported price is 3 Assorted Seeds per Plank. |
| Sheet Metal | 5 | Containers, especially in Industrial POIs; Celeste sells it | Celeste’s reported price is 3 Assorted Seeds per Sheet Metal. |
| ARC Alloy | 10 | Drop from Wasps, Hornets, and other lower-level ARC enemies | Dot Esports describes it as an Uncommon drop. |
| Advanced Electrical Components | 3 | Electrical POIs | Dot Esports describes the item as Rare. |
These locations and prices are routes reported by current secondary game guides, not guaranteed spawn or stock rules. Check the map and vendor inventory in your current game, especially after a patch.

The four materials do not have one shared acquisition method. Planks and Sheet Metal are the two with both a reported loot route and a vendor option. ARC Alloy is described as an enemy drop, while Advanced Electrical Components are tied to Electrical POIs. That distinction helps you avoid spending time searching an Industrial area for all four items as if they shared a single source.
For each item, the guide gives a useful lead rather than a guaranteed result. It does not provide container-by-container spawn information, a fixed drop rate, or a promise that Celeste will have stock on every visit. If a route does not produce what you need, check the current inventory and map rather than assuming that the requirement or item source is broken.
Planks and Sheet Metal: weigh the Industrial route against seeds
Dot Esports identifies Industrial POIs as a good place to look for both Planks and Sheet Metal. It names Stacking Yard and Customs House on Riven Tides, as well as residential areas in southern Buried City, as possible routes. Containers can hold the materials, but the guide presents Industrial POIs as the more reliable option.
If you have Assorted Seeds to spare, Celeste is an alternative: the guide reports a cost of 3 seeds for each Plank and 3 for each Sheet Metal. That makes the two material purchases 24 seeds if you buy all 3 Planks and all 5 Sheet Metal needed for Sheltered Retreat. This is a calculated total from the guide’s per-item prices, not a separate package price. Whether buying or looting is preferable depends on your available seeds, current vendor stock, and what you find on the map.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
The sources do not provide comparative drop rates or enough data to rank these locations quantitatively. Treat the named POIs as places to search, not a guarantee that a particular container will contain the item.
For a mixed approach, count what you already have before deciding how many to buy. If you are short one Plank and two Sheet Metal, the reported Celeste price would add up to 9 Assorted Seeds for those three missing pieces, assuming the vendor has them. If you still need all eight, the equivalent total is 24 seeds. The per-piece price makes this arithmetic straightforward, but it does not establish that buying is always the better value: the guides do not compare seeds’ other uses with the time or risk of looting.

The named map options are not interchangeable evidence of equal yield. Stacking Yard and Customs House are specifically identified on Riven Tides, while southern Buried City is described as residential areas that may be worth checking. The guide calls containers a possible source and Industrial POIs a stronger prospect, but does not publish a ranking among those named locations. Choose among them based on where you are already traveling and check the current map after updates.
If you are trying to gather both building materials in one outing, prioritizing an Industrial POI is the clearest supported plan because the same type of area is recommended for both Planks and Sheet Metal. It is still only a way to improve your odds of finding relevant loot, not a confirmed multi-item route. The seed purchase is the alternative for those two items only; it does not address the ARC Alloy or Advanced Electrical Components requirements.
ARC Alloy: collect it from lower-level ARC enemies
For ARC Alloy, the reported route is combat rather than a specific loot zone: Dot Esports describes it as an Uncommon drop from Wasps, Hornets, and other lower-level ARC enemies. The guide does not establish a drop rate or guarantee that any single enemy will drop Alloy. If you are still working on the project’s flying-ARC damage objective, those encounters may also contribute to that objective, but damage progress and material drops are separate outcomes.
In practical terms, the same encounter may help with two different goals: dealing damage to flying ARC enemies and having a chance to obtain ARC Alloy. Do not treat that overlap as a guaranteed shortcut. The project tracks damage, while a material drop depends on loot, and the guide gives no rate for either how often Alloy drops or how many enemies you should expect to fight for 10 pieces. Check both your material count and objective progress as you go.
The Uncommon label is a rarity description, not a promise that every named enemy will drop Alloy. Wasps and Hornets are examples in the reported route, and “other lower-level ARC enemies” broadens the potential targets without identifying every eligible type. The available guidance does not support a precise farming loop or an expected number of encounters.
Advanced Electrical Components: search Electrical POIs
Advanced Electrical Components are described as Rare items found in Electrical POIs. The available location guidance does not name a particular Electrical POI or establish a dependable number of components per run, so use the in-game map and loot descriptions to identify suitable areas rather than assuming a fixed route.
Because the project asks for three and the item is described as Rare, it is sensible to check your inventory before committing to a trip. The guidance does not say that one Electrical POI contains three components, or that a single raid will be enough. Search areas marked or identified as Electrical, and reassess the count afterward. There is no supported vendor price or enemy-drop route for this component in the named guide, so do not assume Celeste’s Planks and Sheet Metal offer applies to it.
Room expansion recipes
Beebom’s October 9, 2026 Outpost guide reports the same material recipe for each of the three listed rooms:
| Room | Steel Cables | Sheet Metal | Cable Strippers |
|---|---|---|---|
| Panoramic Room | 3 | 20 | 3 |
| Timeless Room | 3 | 20 | 3 |
| Chalet Room | 3 | 20 | 3 |
Those are per-room costs as reported by the guide. The sources do not establish the best locations for Steel Cables or Cable Strippers, so do not assume that the Industrial route for Sheet Metal will also supply the other two items. Check the room’s live build menu for its current recipe before depositing or spending materials; Outpost recipes and loot information may change as the game is updated.

Sheet Metal is the one named material that overlaps the unlock and room recipes. The Outpost project asks for 5, while any one listed room requires 20. If you are pursuing both, plan for the separate amounts rather than treating the project hand-in as satisfying a room recipe.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesIf you plan to build more than one of these rooms, multiply the per-room list before collecting. Two listed rooms would require 6 Steel Cables, 40 Sheet Metal, and 6 Cable Strippers; all three would require 9 Steel Cables, 60 Sheet Metal, and 9 Cable Strippers. Those totals are simple sums of the reported recipe for each room. If you also plan to complete Sheltered Retreat, its 5 Sheet Metal are separate, making 65 Sheet Metal across the project and all three rooms, before any other use or inventory you already have.
This comparison shows why it helps to decide which upgrade you are working toward before gathering. The unlock’s Sheet Metal requirement is only 5, while one room costs 20; the rooms also introduce Steel Cables and Cable Strippers, for which the cited guide does not provide sources. The Industrial POI advice is specifically attached to Planks and Sheet Metal, so it should not be extended to those other room components without checking the live item information.
The room table covers three named options, not every possible Outpost cost. It also does not establish a discount, a shared material pool, or whether crafting one room changes the cost of another. Use the in-game menu to verify the specific room you intend to add and the current amounts shown there, particularly if you have returned after a major update.
Research Station costs and later upgrades

Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minute- 3 Mini Pumps
- 35 Planks
- 5 Battered Paperbacks
The listed Level 1 recipe is substantially different from the Sheltered Retreat hand-in: it needs Planks, but not the four project materials as a set. The guide also names Skulker Targeters, Bully Fragmenters, and a Frigate Inductor among costs for later Research Station levels. It does not provide complete acquisition routes for all of those components in the available information.
Research Station requirements advance by level. Before a raid or before depositing a scarce part, open the Research Station in the Outpost and inspect the next level’s exact recipe. The live screen is the practical check for the level you are actually upgrading; a general guide’s later-level item names do not substitute for the full current cost list.
Level 1 alone calls for 35 Planks, compared with 3 for Sheltered Retreat. If you are pursuing both and have none of the Planks, the two listed recipes add up to 38 Planks. That is a useful planning total, not an indication that one project automatically supplies the other: count the materials required by each menu separately. The Research Station list also adds Mini Pumps and Battered Paperbacks, which are not among the four Sheltered Retreat building materials.
For later levels, the named parts—Skulker Targeters, Bully Fragmenters, and a Frigate Inductor—are clues about the kinds of items that may appear in later recipes, not a complete shopping list. The guide does not give every level’s full quantities or reliable acquisition routes for all of them. Avoid collecting an assumed number based on an incomplete list; inspect the next level’s recipe first, then target the exact components it displays.

The Research Station is part of the Outpost’s broader research progression, but its upgrade materials and the research system’s points are different things. In a September 24, 2026 GamesRadar+ interview, executive producer Aleksander Grøndal explained that players can find items containing research points and use those points to choose research, including some blueprints. That description provides context for research choices; it does not replace the station’s material recipe or identify where to find the specific upgrade components above.
Plan a collection run without mixing up the recipes
- Check the active objective. Confirm whether you are collecting for Sheltered Retreat, a room, or the Research Station. Their recipes are separate.
- Use the map and vendor for the materials that have reported routes. For Planks and Sheet Metal, compare containers in the named Industrial or residential areas with Celeste’s stock and the reported 3-seed-per-item price.
- Search and fight for the remaining project items. Look in Electrical POIs for Advanced Electrical Components and engage the listed lower-level ARC enemies for a chance at ARC Alloy.
- Inspect the live recipe before spending scarce items. Do this for room construction and every Research Station level, where the available guide information does not establish all acquisition routes.
- Recheck after updates. The Outpost arrived with Frozen Trail 2.0, reported released October 8, 2026. Spawn patterns, vendor stock, and recipes are game details that can change.
A practical way to use that checklist is to separate your target into three columns before you head out: the exact requirement, the route the guide reports, and what remains unknown. For Sheltered Retreat, the amounts are fixed in the reported project list; the Industrial and Electrical POI suggestions are search routes; and actual container contents, vendor stock, and drop results still need to be checked in your current game. For a room or Research Station level, start with the live menu because that screen identifies the recipe you need to fulfill.
Keep counts by material rather than by activity. An Industrial search can target the two construction materials that share a reported route, but finding Sheet Metal for the unlock does not mean you have reached the 20 required for a room. Similarly, dealing damage to a flying ARC can advance the combat objective without producing ARC Alloy. Separating objective progress from inventory progress prevents a promising run from being mistaken for a completed requirement.
If you are choosing between looting and Celeste for Planks or Sheet Metal, compare your missing quantity with the reported seed cost and current stock. The listed price makes it possible to calculate a purchase total, but the guides provide no basis for claiming that one choice is universally faster, safer, or more efficient. Use the route that fits your supplies and the places you can currently reach, then verify your inventory before submitting materials.
Why older upgrade advice may not match your game
Frozen Trail 2.0 introduced the Outpost, Research Bench, expandable modules, and lootable furniture designs, according to Beebom’s patch-notes guide updated October 8, 2026. Because this progression content is new, a workshop guide written before the update may not cover these systems. Check its publication date and confirm recipes in-game instead of applying an older list to a new upgrade screen.
ARC Raiders also has a research system separate from simply farming a particular blueprint: in a September 24, 2026 interview, executive producer Aleksander Grøndal described finding items that contain research points, which players can use to choose research, including some blueprints. That system context does not change the material counts above; it is not a substitute for the Outpost’s project or station recipes.
The date is particularly relevant for a newly added system. The Outpost and its related progression content were reported as part of the October 8 Frozen Trail 2.0 release, while the guides listing project and room requirements were updated October 8 and 9. Those dates make them useful references, but they do not guarantee that every subsequent patch leaves a recipe, vendor stock, or spawn location unchanged.
When a general guide and the live menu appear to differ, use the menu for the upgrade currently in front of you and check whether the guide covers the same game version. Requirements are game recipes rather than permanent real-world specifications. Rechecking matters most before spending limited materials on a room or a higher Research Station level, where the recipe may contain specialized items and the guide’s acquisition details are incomplete.

Frequently Asked Questions
What do I need to unlock the ARC Raiders Outpost?
Complete the three reported Sheltered Retreat stages: photograph a farmland house around Ruined Homestead on Blue Gate, submit 3 Planks, 5 Sheet Metal, 10 ARC Alloy, and 3 Advanced Electrical Components, then deal 800 damage to flying ARC enemies and 300 damage to the Bully. The photo step requires a camera, which Dot Esports says can be bought from Shani or acquired through Sizing Things Up.
Where can I find Planks and Sheet Metal?
Dot Esports reports containers as a source and recommends Industrial POIs, naming Stacking Yard and Customs House on Riven Tides. It also lists residential areas in southern Buried City as a possible route. Celeste reportedly sells each material for 3 Assorted Seeds, but check current vendor stock and map loot.
How many Assorted Seeds would it cost to buy the Sheltered Retreat Planks and Sheet Metal?
At the reported price of 3 seeds per item, buying 3 Planks and 5 Sheet Metal would cost 24 Assorted Seeds total. That is calculated from the per-item prices; it is not a package price, and it depends on Celeste having the items in stock.
Recommended Free Tools
How do I get ARC Alloy and Advanced Electrical Components?
Dot Esports describes ARC Alloy as an Uncommon drop from Wasps, Hornets, and other lower-level ARC enemies. It describes Advanced Electrical Components as Rare items found in Electrical POIs. The guide does not provide guaranteed drop rates, a specific Electrical POI, or a dependable amount per run.
What materials does each Outpost room expansion cost?
Beebom’s October 9, 2026 guide reports that each Panoramic Room, Timeless Room, and Chalet Room costs 3 Steel Cables, 20 Sheet Metal, and 3 Cable Strippers. Check the room’s live build menu before committing materials, because the guide does not establish the best sources for Steel Cables or Cable Strippers.
What is the Research Station Level 1 recipe?
The workshop reference guide lists 3 Mini Pumps, 35 Planks, and 5 Battered Paperbacks for Level 1. Later-level costs include named parts such as Skulker Targeters, Bully Fragmenters, and a Frigate Inductor, but inspect the live Research Station for the full next-level recipe.
Do the Sheltered Retreat materials also pay for a room or Research Station upgrade?
Treat the recipes as separate requirements. Sheet Metal appears in both the unlock and room recipes, and Planks appear in both the unlock and Level 1 Research Station recipe, but the project’s hand-in does not itself establish that a separate upgrade cost is covered. Check each live menu and plan for its listed amount.
The Bottom Line
For Sheltered Retreat, prepare a camera, then collect 3 Planks, 5 Sheet Metal, 10 ARC Alloy, and 3 Advanced Electrical Components before completing the two damage objectives. Industrial POIs and Celeste’s reported seed prices are options for Planks and Sheet Metal; lower-level ARC enemies and Electrical POIs are the reported leads for the other materials. Room and Research Station recipes are separate, so verify the current cost in the Outpost before each upgrade.
