The imp returns with Otherworldly Treasure containing the Rune of the Felguard. Any Fel Portal type works.
How to find the Summon Felguard Rune
The Rune of the Felguard is a Warlock rune for the bracer slot. Its discovery route uses the Explorer Imp and a Fel Portal; you do not need to find a particular portal type. The detailed route is listed in Wowhead’s Summon Felguard guide, which reports Patch 1.15.8 and an update date of April 7, 2024.
- Obtain the Explorer Imp. You need the companion before you can use the discovery route. The acquisition walkthrough is separate from the Felguard rune instructions.
- Find a Fel Portal. The listed portal locations are grouped by type below. Any type works.
- Stand close to the portal. Use the dialogue option to send the Explorer Imp through it. Stay near the portal so the option is available.
- Collect the treasure. Wait for the imp to return with Otherworldly Treasure, then use the treasure to learn the Rune of the Felguard. The guide gives no drop rate or required attempt count.
Fel Portal types and listed locations
| Portal type | Listed zones |
|---|---|
| Fel Sliver | The Barrens, Westfall, Darkshore, Silverpine Forest |
| Fel Crack | The Barrens, Ashenvale, Redridge Mountain |
| Fel Tear | Swamp of Sorrows, Desolace |
| Fel Scar | Feralas, Azshara, Blasted Lands |
| Fel Rift | Unknown in the guide |
These are the zones listed by the guide; it does not provide exact coordinates here. Since portal type does not affect the rune route, use whichever listed portal is convenient for your character.
Can you buy the rune from a Rune Broker?
Blizzard’s Phase 7 announcement says players can “visit the Rune Brokers to purchase runes and rune-related discovery items.” Wowhead’s Warlock rune overview places Rune Brokers in each race’s main city.

The cited sources do not confirm whether the Rune of the Felguard is currently listed at a particular broker or what it costs. Check the Rune Broker in your faction’s city in game. If the rune is listed, buying it may avoid the Explorer Imp discovery chain; otherwise, use the portal method above.
