The reward is missable in that encounter: the top two back arms cannot be broken, so target the four lower, breakable arms before finishing the boss.
Where to find the first Venom Daoist fight
The encounter is at Pool of Shattered Jade in Webbed Hollow. From the shrine area, follow the route that triggers the large cocoon to reach the boss. A guide also describes a later Venom Daoist fight at the Temple of Yellow Flowers; the armguard condition applies to the first encounter, not that later one. How to break the four arms and claim the reward
- Reach Pool of Shattered Jade in Webbed Hollow and start the first Venom Daoist fight.
- During the fight, aim attacks at the boss’s back arms. Break four of them before defeating him; the top two are not breakable.
- Once four arms are broken, defeat the Venom Daoist to receive the Venomous Armguard.
The references establish the required target and timing, but not one mandatory attack rotation. If the boss is defeated before the four breakable arms are severed, the reward is missed for that encounter. Item details and the boss guide describe the condition.
Venomous Armguard stats and effect
The community-maintained item reference lists the Venomous Armguard as Legendary arm armor with 30 defense and 3% critical-hit chance. Its effect inflicts Poison Bane on an enemy when you land a critical hit. The item description reads: “He who strikes first loses in morality.” See the item reference.

How it fits the Centipede Armor Set
The armguard is associated with the Centipede Armor Set. According to the item reference, wearing two pieces massively reduces continuous damage received while Poisoned; wearing four significantly increases Attack while Poisoned. The armguard’s own critical-hit-triggered Poison Bane effect may suit a build that wants to apply poison, while the set bonuses are relevant if you expect to fight while Poisoned. These listed effects do not establish that the set or armguard is best-in-slot; no comparative damage testing is provided by the cited references.
