No: the Vex infinite-damage loop is a patched exploit, not a build to use now. Gearbox’s October 23, 2025 update stopped Bloodletter bleed from recursively triggering itself and also restricted which damage types Groundbreaker can store. The old interaction is useful as a look back at an early Vex build, but the available official notes do not establish a complete, current replacement build.
Does the Vex infinite-damage build still work?
The reported infinite-damage loop is no longer supported by the mechanics Gearbox described in its October 23, 2025 update. The patch says Bloodletter bleed no longer recursively triggers itself, addressing the chain reaction at the center of the exploit. It also limits Groundbreaker’s stored damage to Gun, Action Skill, and Ordnance damage after recursive bonus-damage loops could create infinite scaling.

That means the title’s “Abuse It Now” promise is outdated. The patch confirms the fix; it does not establish that every possible Vex damage interaction was removed or describe how every build performs today.
How the old Bloodletter loop worked
Historical accounts describe an interaction involving Vex’s Bloodletter bleed, the Contamination passive, and a throwing knife with the Penetrator Augment. The reported setup used Penetrator to make damage sources critically hit; Bloodletter bleed could then crit and trigger itself again, while Contamination was said to make the interaction more consistent. That is a description of the old exploit, not a usable current setup.

The guide that documented the interaction is marked outdated, and an Icy Veins build page says a balance patch removed infinite damage while noting that the build could still dispatch targets quickly. That does not provide enough evidence for a fully specified current skill tree or gear recipe.
What changed in later Vex updates
Gearbox’s April 30, 2026 Version 1.6 notes include additional Vex changes involving Bloodletter, Blood is Magic, Yowl and Bay, and other skills. Those notes show that Vex continued to receive balance updates after the infinite-loop fix, but they do not establish the exact live balance state on October 8, 2026.

Accordingly, there is no reliable basis here to label a particular present-day Vex loadout the best replacement, or to claim a current skill tree, equipment list, or boss-kill time. The old headline claim of clearing targets in “less than 10 seconds” is not a current benchmark.

This evidence supports a firm answer about the exploit’s patch status, not a comparison of today’s Vex builds. To choose a current setup, check resources that are explicitly updated for the live game version and assess whether they explain their skill choices, gear requirements, and intended use—such as boss damage or general play. Do not treat the outdated Bloodletter loop as current build advice.
