To get Thiollier’s Concoction in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, complete the Black Syrup exchange with Moore and Thiollier and choose “I’m weary of life” when speaking to Thiollier. Do this before approaching Shadow Keep: the quest reference warns that reaching the area can lock out the initial exchange.
How to get Thiollier’s Concoction
-
Speak with Moore and meet Thiollier at Pillar Path Cross.
-
Return to Moore and receive Black Syrup, which he intends for Thiollier.
-
Give the Black Syrup to Thiollier.
-
Ask Thiollier about the syrup, then choose “I’m weary of life” to receive the concoction.

Complete this exchange before approaching Shadow Keep. The quest reference warns that approaching it can prevent the first step and affect a related Ancient Dragon Florissax Spirit Ash outcome. See the Thiollier quest reference and item reference.
What happens if you drink it?
Using Thiollier’s Concoction kills the player character. Its item description calls it a somniferous elixir supposedly powerful enough to put an ancient dragon to sleep, while warning that a sip would kill an ordinary mortal. That dramatic description is in-game text; the practical player-character effect is death.

What else is the concoction used for?
The other documented use is in the Dragon Communion Priestess questline: giving her the concoction is part of the route that leads to receiving her ashes. The available item reference does not establish a full comparison of quest branches, so this guide does not infer other consequences. Dragon Communion Priestess quest reference.

The item description says Thiollier created the concoction while thinking of St. Trina’s sleep. It contrasts the elixir with the sweetness and gentleness associated with her nectar, framing it as a darker imitation rather than a harmless sleeping draught.
