To get Void Heart in Hollow Knight, collect both White Fragments—one from the White Lady in Queen’s Gardens and one in the White Palace—so they form Kingsoul. Equip Kingsoul, enter the Birthplace at the bottom of the Abyss, and Dream Nail the egg at the end. Completing the memory sequence transforms Kingsoul into Void Heart.
Get the two White Fragments
Find the White Lady in Queen’s Gardens
Visit the White Lady in Queen’s Gardens to receive the first White Fragment. It is one half of Kingsoul.
Reach the White Palace from Ancient Basin
In Ancient Basin, use Monarch Wings to reach the Palace Grounds. At the entrance, use the Awoken Dream Nail on the Kingsmould corpse to enter the White Palace. Complete the palace route to reach the throne room; the Pale King’s body yields the second White Fragment.
The White Palace has challenging platforming. Hiveblood can help recover health between attempts, while Deep Focus paired with Grubsong is another optional healing setup. Neither charm setup is required. The Path of Pain is an optional secret challenge; it is not needed to obtain the fragment.

Form Kingsoul and open the Birthplace
- Collect both fragments. They automatically combine into the Kingsoul charm.
- Equip Kingsoul. You need it equipped to open the secret entrance at the bottom of the Abyss.
- Enter the Birthplace. Follow the newly accessible route through the Abyss to the area’s end.
- Dream Nail the egg. Complete the memory sequence that follows. Kingsoul then becomes Void Heart.
What changes when you get Void Heart?
Void Heart replaces Kingsoul, uses no charm notch, and cannot be unequipped during ordinary play. It changes which endings are available on that save profile: it unlocks four endings and prevents the non-Void-Heart ending. It also makes the Shade, Siblings, and Void Tendrils passive, and enables access to the Radiance and the Pantheon of Hallownest.
