How to unlock Wrinklers
- Progress through the research upgrades until One Mind becomes available.
- Purchase One Mind. This starts the Grandmapocalypse; Wrinklers can appear from its first stage. See the Grandmapocalypse reference.
- Leave the event active and wait. Wrinklers spawn over time. Advancing to later Grandmapocalypse stages increases their spawn rate, but is not required just to unlock them.
There is no guaranteed countdown for the first Wrinkler. The Cookie Clicker Wiki reports a base spawn probability of 0.001% per frame for each empty Wrinkler slot per Grandmapocalypse stage; effects such as Unholy bait, Skruuia, and garden plants can modify it. What Wrinklers do and when to pop them
Wrinklers attach to the Big Cookie and temporarily reduce visible production. Each ordinary Wrinkler reduces CpS by 5% while feeding, then normally returns 1.1 times the cookies it digested when popped, according to the Cookie Clicker Wiki. Let them feed if you want to build up that stored-cookie return; click one to collect its contents.
The ordinary population cap is 10. Elder Spice and Dragon Guts each add two slots, for a maximum of 14 when both effects apply. Cookie Clicker Wiki

Should you keep the Grandmapocalypse active?
It depends on how you play. Wrinklers tend to suit idle accumulation, while wrath cookies can complicate active golden-cookie combos. There is no universally best choice for every save. If you want Wrinklers to keep appearing, leave the Grandmapocalypse running; if you disable it, all current Wrinklers pop and new ones stop appearing until you restart the event.
