Xbox announced that, starting April 21, 2026, US Game Pass Ultimate costs $22.99 per month, down from $29.99. US PC Game Pass costs $13.99 per month, down from $16.49. Ultimate includes hundreds of games on Xbox console and PC, online multiplayer on console, unlimited Xbox Cloud Gaming, in-game benefits and major day-one releases. There is also a notable change for Call of Duty: beginning in 2026, future games in the series will not arrive in Ultimate or PC Game Pass at launch. Pay with gift-card balance only when it reduces your effective cost
Microsoft Support says redeemed gift-card funds can be used to purchase an Xbox-related subscription. Using a card at its full face value is a different payment method, not a discount. It can lower your effective cost if you bought the balance below face value or earned it through rewards. Check Microsoft Rewards for a usable gift card
Microsoft Rewards displays Microsoft Gift Cards in denominations including $1.25, $5, $10 and $25, as well as custom amounts. Availability, points cost and restrictions can vary by account, region and time. The promotional gift-card balance described in the program terms must be spent within 90 days of deposit; eligible purchases also vary. Compare plans against the features you actually use
Ultimate is not automatically the cheapest suitable plan. Xbox lists Ultimate, Premium, Essential and PC Game Pass; check its current plan comparison for regional prices and included features rather than relying on an old price chart. Compare the devices you play on, console online multiplayer, cloud gaming, catalog access, new-release timing and benefits you use. What not to count as a subscription discount
Member discounts on games do not reduce the monthly fee
Xbox advertises discounts of up to 50% on select games for Ultimate, Premium and Essential members, and discounts of up to 20% on select Game Pass library titles for specified plans. These are discounts on game purchases, not on the subscription charge. They use Microsoft Store prices, cannot be combined with other offers or exchanged for cash, exclude titles within 30 days of launch, and may exclude select titles. How to stop an unwanted renewal
Xbox says recurring billing is on by default. If you do not want the next charge, switch it off in your Microsoft account or console and check the displayed end date and renewal status. Turning off recurring billing prevents automatic renewal; it is not a way to keep the subscription active indefinitely without paying. Xbox also describes a one-time-per-account, per-subscription refund right for the most recent recurring charge when cancellation is made within 30 days after payment. Avoid risky or unverified shortcuts
