To grow rice in Farming Simulator 25, first build a rice paddy, then choose which crop you want: standard rice is planted as saplings into a flooded paddy, while long-grain rice is sown dry and flooded afterward. The choice also changes your harvest equipment.
Choose the rice type before planting
Standard rice and long-grain rice are separate crops with different planting and water sequences. Both use a rice paddy, but standard rice needs a dedicated rice planter and specialized harvesting equipment. Long-grain rice uses a regular seeder and can be harvested with a conventional combine and grain header.

How to grow standard rice
- Build a rice paddy. Use the game’s build mode to create one. The paddy can be reused for later harvests.
- Fill it with water. Standard rice needs the paddy flooded before planting.
- Plant saplings. Use the dedicated rice planter; this is not a regular seeding job.
- Monitor the field. Follow the in-game field and water indicators as the crop grows.
- Harvest with rice equipment. Standard rice requires specialized harvesting equipment rather than a conventional combine setup.

How to grow long-grain rice
- Build a rice paddy in build mode if you do not already have one.
- Sow the crop dry using a regular seeder.
- Flood the paddy after sowing and monitor water management during growth.
- Harvest with a conventional combine fitted with a grain header.
The key distinction is timing: do not flood before sowing long-grain rice. GIANTS Software’s long-grain rice guide and rice preview describe sowing dry and flooding afterward.

After harvest, check the field information to see whether lime is needed, then cultivate the paddy before planting again. Lime is conditional: GIANTS Software’s preview says it is needed only after a few harvests, so do not assume every harvest requires liming.
