Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsTo hide one game’s achievements, playtime, ownership, status, and activity from other people, open that game’s menu in Steam, choose Manage, then Mark as Private. You can also use the game’s Properties > Privacy dialog, the games list on your Steam Community profile, or the privacy control in your cart when buying a game. For library-comparison tools, the separate Game details setting determines whether your game list can be read.
Use Mark as Private to hide one game
Steam’s per-game privacy control is the right choice when you want to conceal activity from a particular title without making your entire profile private. Steam describes the result this way: “Marking a game as private hides your ownership, in-game status, playtime, and activity in that game.” That activity includes achievement unlocks and the “Played for the first time” event that would otherwise appear in friends’ Activity feeds.

Desktop client method
- Open your Steam Library while the client is online and connected.
- Find the game you want to conceal.
- Right-click the title, or open its gear menu.
- Choose Manage.
- Select Mark as Private and confirm if Steam asks for confirmation.
The setting applies to that title only. It does not change the visibility of other games in your account.
Properties method
You can reach the same control through the game’s properties. Open the game’s menu, choose Properties, and open the Privacy dialog. Set the title to private there. This route is useful when you already have the game’s configuration window open or when the Library context menu is difficult to reach.

Steam Community profile method
In a browser, open the games list on your Steam Community profile and use the privacy control for the relevant title. This is the browser equivalent of marking a game private from the Library client.
Hide a purchase before or during checkout
Steam also provides a way to mark a purchase private from the cart. Use that option when you want the title to begin as a private game rather than changing its status after it has been added to your account.
What other people stop seeing
Making a game private removes the title from the parts of your profile and activity stream that normally reveal how you use it. The change is broader than hiding an achievement list alone.
| Information | Effect of marking the game private |
|---|---|
| Ownership | Other users cannot see that you own the game through the normal profile and game-list views. |
| Playtime | Playtime for that title is hidden. |
| Current in-game status | The title does not make your visible Steam status read “In Game.” |
| Recently Played | The game is removed from the owner’s visible Recently Played section. |
| Community profile games list | The title no longer appears in the games list shown on your profile. |
| Achievement activity | Achievement unlocks from the private game are not sent to friends’ Activity feeds. |
| First-play activity | The “Played for the first time” event is not sent to friends’ Activity feeds. |
| Achievement showcases | The game and its achievements disappear from profile showcases such as Rarest Achievements. |
| Trading Cards | Steam Trading Cards are not awarded while the game is private. |
Private status therefore covers both the underlying game and the social events generated by playing it. It is not merely a switch that removes a single achievement notification.

Private is different from Hide this game
Steam’s Hide this game Library command is an organizational feature. It removes a title from your own preferred Library view so that you can keep the collection tidy. It does not provide the same social privacy protection.
A private game remains visible to you in your account, but other users are prevented from seeing the title and its associated activity through the normal public surfaces. Hiding a game from your Library view, by contrast, is about what you see locally. If your goal is to stop friends from seeing ownership, playtime, achievements, or activity, use Mark as Private, not only Hide this game.
Set privacy for your whole Steam profile
If you want to limit more than one title, use Steam’s account-level privacy controls. In the desktop client or Steam Community profile, open Profile > Edit Profile > Privacy Settings. Steam offers three profile states, and changes save automatically without a separate Save button.
| Profile state | General audience | Typical use |
|---|---|---|
| Public | Everyone can access the profile information allowed by the individual settings below. | Useful when you want your profile and library to be discoverable. |
| Friends Only | Steam friends can access the information that the profile settings expose; people outside your friend list cannot. | Useful for a social circle made up primarily of Steam friends. |
| Private | Your profile information is not generally available to other users. | Useful when you want the broadest account-level restriction. |
These profile states apply at the account level, while a private game applies to one title. You can therefore keep a public profile and still protect a specific game, or keep the profile public while restricting the data that comparison services can read.

Understand Game details before using a comparison site
Game details is a separate privacy control from the overall profile state. It governs whether your game list can be read for purposes such as comparing libraries, playtime, or achievement progress. A profile can be public while Game details remains hidden, so checking only the headline profile setting can give a misleading impression of what an external tool can access.
When a comparison tool needs your library
Set Game details to Public when an unaffiliated comparison tool needs to read your Steam library. This is the setting that exposes the game-list data such tools normally request. Making the profile itself public is not a substitute if Game details is still restricted.
Why Friends Only often fails for third-party tools
Friends Only can allow Steam friends to see your game details, but most third-party API tools are not authenticated as one of your friends. They make an unaffiliated request, so the service generally cannot read a Friends Only library. If a comparison site reports that it cannot find your games, a Friends Only Game details setting is one of the first things to check.

Friends list is a separate switch
Some tools need to load a friend picker so that you can select people to compare against. The Friends list setting is separate from both profile visibility and Game details. A public game list does not automatically make the friends list available, and opening the friends list does not by itself expose the game library. Set each category according to what the tool actually needs.

How Steam achievement comparisons work
Steam’s Achievement Sets feature lets you compare your progress with up to three friends at a time. The comparison can include rare achievements, completed sets, and progress in downloadable-content sets. The friend limit applies to the comparison feature itself; it is not a statement that only three people can view your profile.
Why totals can differ between two players
Steam does not necessarily calculate a universal achievement denominator for every account. Comparison totals are based on the achievements each player can actually earn. The number can vary because one player owns additional content, because downloadable content adds separate sets, or because an achievement is time-limited or has been archived.
For that reason, two friends may see different completion percentages or totals for the same game without either profile being incorrect. Before treating a difference as a missing unlock, check whether the players have the same add-ons and whether the relevant achievements are currently available.
What private status does not hide in multiplayer
Per-game privacy is not an invisibility mode for every multiplayer interaction. Steam states that when a private game uses Steam matchmaking, your Steam ID remains visible to other players on the same server. Server participants can therefore identify the account-level Steam ID even though the game is private on your profile.

- Compatible with Wide Screens - To ensure compatibility with the dual monitor mount, your each monitor must meet three conditions at the same time: First, computer screens size range: 13 to 32 inches. Second, screen weight range: 4.4 to 19.8 lbs. Third, the back of the monitor screen must have VESA mounting holes with a pitch of 75x75mm or 100x100mm.
- Regarding the compatibility with desks - Your desk must meet three conditions at the same time: First, desk material: Only wooden desks are recommended, plastic or glass desks cannot be used. Second, desk thickness range: 0.59" - 3.54". Third, the bottom of the desk should not have any cross beams or panels, as this will interfere with installation. We recommend carefully checking that your desk and monitors meets all above conditions before purchasing.
- Dual C-Clamp Hold - Worried your dual monitors might wobble or slip? Our upgraded base uses a larger platform plus a dual C-clamp structure to lock the dual monitor arm firmly to your desk. Each arm safely keeps your screens steady while you type, click and game—no shaking, no sliding, just a clean and secure setup you can trust every day. It also provides Grommet Mounting installation choice, both options ensure stable and secure fixation for your 0.59" - 3.54" desk.
- Full-Motion Adjustment For Comfortable View - Pull the screen closer when you’re deep in a spreadsheet, push it back to watch videos, or rotate to portrait for coding — moving everything smoothly with just one hand. The monitor stand offers +85°/-50° tilt, ±90° swivel and 360° rotation. Raise your monitor up to 15.75″ to support a healthy sitting posture. Whether you’re working from home, gaming through the night, or switching between video calls and documents, getting the screens to your natural line of sight helps relieve neck, shoulder and back strain so you can stay focused longer with less fatigue.
- Keep Your Desk Organized: By lifting both screens off the desktop, this dual monitor stand opens up valuable space for your keyboard, notebook, docking station or a simple, clutter-free work area. Built-in cable management guides wires along the arms, keeping cords out of sight and out of the way. Enjoy a tidy, modern workstation that looks as good as it feels to use.
Inviting a friend creates another exception. If you invite someone to join a private game, that friend can see your in-game status until you exit the game or disconnect from Steam so the friend can join. The private setting suppresses ordinary profile and Activity-feed exposure; it does not remove the technical identity information required for multiplayer matchmaking and joining.
Troubleshoot a comparison site that cannot see your games
- Check the scope of the problem. If only one title is missing, confirm that it is not marked private. A private title will not appear in the normal public game list that a comparison service reads.
- Open the privacy controls. Go to Profile > Edit Profile > Privacy Settings and inspect Game details, not just the headline profile state.
- Use Public for unaffiliated tools. Set Game details to Public when the service is not authenticated as one of your Steam friends. Friends Only commonly blocks these requests.
- Check the Friends list requirement. If the service offers a friend picker and it is empty, review the separate Friends list setting. A readable game list does not automatically grant access to the friends list.
- Allow the automatic save to complete. Steam saves privacy changes automatically. There is no additional Save button to press, but a tool may need to reload your profile after the change.
- Review comparison assumptions. If the library loads but achievement totals differ, compare downloadable-content ownership and the availability of time-limited or archived achievements before changing privacy settings again.
Practical privacy choices
You want to hide one embarrassing or personal game
Mark that game private. This limits the change to the title and removes the ownership, playtime, status, achievement, and activity signals associated with it. Your other games can remain visible under your normal profile settings.
You want friends to see your library but not one game
Keep the profile and Game details settings appropriate for your friends, then mark only the sensitive title private. The per-game control takes precedence for that title’s visibility without requiring a private profile.

Use a public Game details setting. If the tool also asks you to choose friends, review Friends list privacy separately. Do not assume that a public profile alone grants access to every category of data.
You want maximum account-level privacy
Set the profile to Private. This restricts the profile broadly, but it also prevents comparison services and other external tools from obtaining the information they need. If you later want to compare libraries, you will need to expose the relevant categories again.
Before changing anything, identify the data you are protecting
- Achievement notifications only: Steam’s private-game setting is broader than a notification mute because it also hides ownership, playtime, status, and profile showcases.
- A single game from everyone: Mark the title private rather than hiding it from your Library.
- Your entire game collection: Change profile or Game details privacy at the account level.
- Access for a comparison service: Game details must normally be Public for an unaffiliated tool; Friends Only is generally insufficient.
- Multiplayer anonymity: Private status cannot conceal your Steam ID from players on the same matchmaking server.
- Achievement-count differences: Check downloadable content and archived or time-limited achievements before assuming the comparison is wrong.
Key distinctions to remember
Three controls are easy to confuse. Mark as Private protects one game’s social and profile activity. Hide this game changes only how the title is organized in your own Library. Game details controls whether your game list is available for comparison and other external uses. Profile visibility and Friends list privacy are additional account categories, each with its own audience.
Using the narrowest setting that matches your goal avoids unnecessary exposure. Use the per-game control for a single title, account-level privacy for the whole profile, and a public Game details setting only when you deliberately want an external comparison tool to read your library.
