Prominence II is not a 1.19.2 pack. Its Fabric releases target Minecraft 1.20.1. If your group specifically needs Minecraft 1.19.2, use the separate Prominence I (Legacy) Fabric release; if you want the current Prominence II experience, install its 1.20.1 server and client files together. The procedures below show how to make that choice and how to launch a Prominence II 1.20.1 server safely.
Godlike.Host offers modded Minecraft server hosting with one-click modpacks, a built-in mod installer and up to three free backups a day.
First, identify which Prominence you actually need
The phrase “Prominence Fabric 1.19.2” combines two different release lines. Modrinth’s Prominence II listing identifies Fabric, Minecraft 1.20.1, and both client and server environments. Recent Prominence II files on CurseForge also list 1.20.1. A separate Prominence I (Legacy) Fabric file is listed for 1.19.2. Those are not interchangeable installations.

This distinction determines every file your players install. A 1.19.2 client cannot join a 1.20.1 Prominence II server, and a Prominence I client should not be treated as the client for Prominence II. Decide which Minecraft version your group will use before downloading anything.
| Choice | Minecraft version | What it represents | Use it when |
|---|---|---|---|
| Prominence I (Legacy) Fabric | 1.19.2 | The older Prominence line identified in the available 1.19.2 listing | Your players already require Minecraft 1.19.2 and have compatible Legacy clients |
| Prominence II Fabric | 1.20.1 | The current Prominence II RPG pack line identified by Modrinth and recent CurseForge files | You want Prominence II and can move the entire group to Minecraft 1.20.1 |
The 1.19.2 Legacy file was identified from a CurseForge search result rather than a confirmed page review, so verify the file and loader details on the project’s current download page before deploying it. The setup procedure documented here is for Prominence II on 1.20.1; a complete Prominence I 1.19.2 procedure is not established by the available documentation.

What you need before installing Prominence II
- An empty server directory. Keeping the installation separate prevents old loader, configuration, or world files from being mixed with the new pack.
- The exact Prominence II server package that matches the pack version your players will install.
- Java 17. The pack’s
variables.txtguidance recommends Java 17, which is also the appropriate Java generation for Minecraft 1.20.1. - Enough memory for the player count. Published setup guides suggest at least 8 GB for three to four players plus about 1 GB for each additional player; another guide suggests approximately 8 GB for around six players. These are guide-level recommendations, not an official hardware specification.
- A Linux or Windows machine, or a hosting panel that supports importing the pack from Modrinth.
- The same Prominence II pack version on every player’s computer. The pack is required on both client and server.
Do not choose a version number solely because it appears in an old tutorial. The available listings and guides disagree: Modrinth shows a Prominence II version identified as 3.1.50, while guides refer to 4.1.2, 4.0.5, and 3.9.x/4.0.x. Treat the project’s current file listing as authoritative for the release you are deploying, and make the server and all clients use that exact release.
Download a matching server package
Use the same release on both sides
Start by selecting one Prominence II file from the current project listing. Record its Minecraft version, Fabric designation, and pack version. Download the server bundle for that release rather than assembling individual mods by hand. Your players should install the corresponding client pack from the same release line.

A pack number is not interchangeable merely because both files say Prominence II. Keep a simple deployment note containing the exact pack version, Minecraft version, and the date you downloaded it; give those values to every player.
Check the archive before extracting
The server bundle should contain the supplied launch files and a variables.txt file. On Linux, the launch file is normally named start.sh; on Windows, it is start.bat. If those files are absent, you may have downloaded a client archive or an incomplete file rather than the server package.

Install and launch on Linux
- Create an empty directory. Use a dedicated directory for this Prominence installation. Do not place it inside another modpack’s server folder.
- Extract the matching server archive. Preserve the directory structure supplied by the pack so the launch script can find
variables.txtand the other files. - Open
variables.txt. Set the memory values before the first normal player session. Begin with the amount appropriate to your group using the guide-level recommendations above, and leave room for the operating system and other services. - Confirm Java 17. The pack guidance calls for Java 17. If the machine has several Java installations, make sure the launch script resolves to Java 17 rather than an older or newer runtime.
- Run
start.sh. The supplied script downloads the Fabric server launcher during the initial start. Keep the terminal open and watch for completion or an error message. - Accept the Minecraft EULA. On first start, the script asks you to type
I agree. Enter that exact response when prompted. The server cannot complete its initial setup until the EULA is accepted. - Stop and restart after initialization if requested. Allow the script to create its initial files, then use the supplied launch script for subsequent starts rather than manually replacing the generated launcher.
The first run is a provisioning step, not a player-ready test. Wait until the script has finished downloading the Fabric launcher and generating the server files before attempting to connect. Keep the original archive and the exact pack-version note so that you can rebuild the directory if a partial download or accidental edit causes problems.
Install and launch on Windows
- Make a new server folder. Extract the matching Prominence II server package into that folder, with no files from another installation present.
- Edit
variables.txtbefore starting. Set the memory allocation for your planned player count. The guide recommendations are approximately 8 GB for a small group, with about 1 GB more per player beyond the three-to-four-player baseline; these figures are not official guarantees. - Install or select Java 17. Verify that the pack’s start script will use Java 17. A machine can have multiple Java versions, so simply having Java installed does not prove that the correct runtime is selected.
- Run
start.bat. The first launch downloads the Fabric server launcher and prepares the installation. - Accept the EULA when prompted. Type
I agreeexactly in the command window. Close the window only after the script has finished its first-run work. - Use the same batch file for later starts. Starting through the supplied script keeps the pack’s expected launcher and variables in use.
If the command window closes immediately, start the batch file from an already-open terminal so the error remains visible. Check the Java version, the extracted directory, and the presence of variables.txt before trying again.
Set memory without overpromising performance
Memory is configured in variables.txt, not by changing random mod files. The available guides provide planning rules rather than a tested minimum: one recommends at least 8 GB for three to four players and roughly 1 GB for every additional player; another recommends about 8 GB for a group of around six. Use those numbers as starting points, not as a guarantee of a particular tick rate or view distance.
- Set the value before players join, then restart through the supplied script so the change is applied.
- Leave memory for the operating system and any control panel, backup job, or other process running on the machine.
- Increase allocation only when the machine has spare physical memory. Assigning more than the computer can provide can make the host less stable rather than improving the server.
- Keep a note of the value you selected alongside the pack version, so a rebuild uses the same baseline.
No published benchmark or official Prominence performance table was found for this setup. Avoid presenting the guide figures as a guaranteed capacity, and do not infer a maximum player count from them.

Make the client and server agree
Prominence II is a client-and-server pack. Every player needs the same pack release as the server, not merely the same Minecraft major version. Distribute the exact release identifier and instruct players to update together when you update the server.
Before the first connection
- Confirm that the server and each client are on Minecraft 1.20.1.
- Confirm that all installations are using the Prominence II Fabric release, not Prominence I (Legacy).
- Confirm that the pack version matches character-for-character where the launcher displays it.
- Ask players to close the game and launcher while replacing an old pack, so files from the previous release are not left active.
A player who still has a 1.19.2 profile or a Prominence I profile is on a different release line. Updating only the server will not convert that client; the player must install the corresponding 1.20.1 Prominence II client pack.
Using a hosting panel
Some Minecraft hosting panels provide a Modpack tab that can install Prominence II directly from Modrinth. Pine Hosting is one example described in setup guidance. The panel workflow is generally: open the Modpack tab, find the matching Prominence II release, select the server installation, and allow the panel to deploy the files.
Panel automation does not remove the version checks. Before starting the server, verify that the panel selected Minecraft 1.20.1, Fabric, and the same Prominence II release your players will use. Locate the panel’s equivalent of variables.txt and set memory there if the panel exposes the setting. On first start, watch the console for the EULA prompt and complete it with I agree when required.

- Skins! We have biome settlers, city folk, town folk, and more!
- The Nether and all its inhabitants. Fight Ghasts and make friends with Pigmen
- Cross platform play for up to five players between Pocket Edition and Windows 10
- Revamped touch controls, controller support, and a controller mapping screen
- Enhanced Weather effects! Accumulating snow and more
If the panel offers several Prominence II entries, choose one exact version and document it. Do not allow the panel to silently track a newer release while players continue using an older client pack.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Choosing 1.19.2 instead
If Minecraft 1.19.2 is a hard requirement, Prominence II is the wrong target. The available 1.19.2 listing belongs to Prominence I (Legacy), so your group must obtain that Legacy server file and its matching client release. The Legacy setup steps, Java requirement, memory guidance, and launch details were not established in the available documentation; do not apply the Prominence II 1.20.1 instructions blindly to it.
Recommended Free Tools
For an existing 1.19.2 community, the practical decision is whether preserving the established clients matters more than moving to Prominence II. Staying on Legacy avoids a coordinated Minecraft-version change but keeps the group on the older Prominence line. Moving to Prominence II provides the current 1.20.1 target identified by the project listings, but every player must migrate to the new Minecraft and pack combination.
| Question | Choose Prominence I (Legacy) 1.19.2 | Choose Prominence II 1.20.1 |
|---|---|---|
| What Minecraft version is required? | 1.19.2 | 1.20.1 |
| What client files do players need? | The matching Legacy Fabric pack | The matching Prominence II Fabric pack |
| Will an existing 1.19.2 client work unchanged? | It is the line intended for that version, subject to verifying the current file | No; players must move to 1.20.1 and install Prominence II |
| What documentation is available here? | A 1.19.2 file listing, but no complete setup procedure | Server extraction, Java 17, memory, launch-script, EULA, and matching-client guidance |
Troubleshoot the first start
The server asks for the EULA repeatedly
Complete the prompt by entering I agree exactly. If the prompt returns on every launch, make sure the server directory is writable and that you are launching from the extracted folder containing the generated files. Do not delete the EULA file between starts.
Best Value
- Play and share with friends on console, mobile and Windows 10
- discover community creations in the new in-game store
- access new mini games and game modes through servers
The launcher does not download or the script reports a Java error
Verify that Java 17 is installed and that start.sh or start.bat is actually using it. Also check that the server archive was fully extracted and that the script has access to the directory. A client-only archive will not contain the expected server launch structure.
A player cannot join after the server starts
Check the three values that must match: Minecraft 1.20.1, Fabric, and the exact Prominence II pack release. A 1.19.2 or Prominence I profile is not compatible with a Prominence II 1.20.1 server. Have the player update or reinstall the client pack rather than changing individual mods.

Recheck the value in variables.txt, restart through the supplied script, and confirm that the host has enough physical memory left for the operating system. The published 8 GB figures are recommendations from guides, not a promise that every world or player count will behave identically.
The panel installed an unexpected release
Read the installed pack and Minecraft versions in the panel before inviting players. If they differ from your deployment note, stop the server and reinstall or select the intended release. Coordinating one exact version is safer than asking players to guess which client files correspond to the server.
Deployment checklist
- Decide between Prominence I (Legacy) 1.19.2 and Prominence II 1.20.1.
- For Prominence II, select one current release and record its exact identifier.
- Download the matching server package into an empty directory.
- Confirm Java 17.
- Set memory in
variables.txtbefore players join. - Run
start.shon Linux orstart.baton Windows. - Type
I agreeat the first-run EULA prompt. - Give every player the same Minecraft, Fabric, and pack version.
- Keep the version and memory settings recorded for updates and recovery.
Following that checklist produces a supported Prominence II target: Fabric on Minecraft 1.20.1. It does not turn Prominence II into a 1.19.2 pack; for 1.19.2, use the separately identified Prominence I (Legacy) release and verify its current server documentation before deployment.
