The fastest way to host a Rebirth of the Night (RotN) server is a Minecraft host with a one-click CurseForge installer. For full control, download the matching official SERVER zip from the Rebirth of the Night Files tab on CurseForge, run the supplied Forge server files on your own machine, and give the process enough memory for your player count. Every player must install the identical RotN release for Minecraft 1.12.2.

Choose managed hosting or self-hosting
Both approaches run the same modpack; they differ in who handles files, updates, networking and recovery.

Provider pricing, plan limits and player-slot policies were not established here, so compare those directly in each provider’s current panel before paying. The important technical question is whether the plan gives enough usable memory after the host’s own overhead, not merely the advertised headline number.

Managed panels remove most manual file handling. The labels differ, but the sequence is consistent: create the instance, select the exact RotN release, let the panel install the server files, start it once, and connect with a client on the same release.
Akliz
- Create a server in the Akliz Command Center.
- Start the instance and use the panel’s file access if you need to inspect or edit the installation. The available listing reports full server-file access over FTP.
- Install the same RotN release in the CurseForge launcher on each player’s computer.
- Connect using the address shown by the panel after the server finishes starting.
FTP access is useful for downloading a world backup or checking a log, but do not replace the pack’s files with a different release unless you intend to update both server and clients together.

- Open the host control panel and use its CurseForge importer.
- Search for Rebirth of the Night and select the release that matches the clients.
- Apply the memory and server settings offered by the panel, then start the server.
- Have every player install that same release before attempting to join.
An importer is safer than uploading a random client profile because it is designed to fetch the server package. Still, check the selected version number before confirming installation.

- Open the panel installer.
- Search for Rebirth of the Night.
- Click the install action for the desired release.
- Start the server, wait for a completed startup in the console, and test with one client before inviting the whole group.
Other panels
Search listings also showed RotN pages for BisectHosting, ScalaCube, OUIHeberg, DedicatedMinecraft.host and StickyPiston. The available material does not document each installation flow, so look for a current “modpack,” “CurseForge,” or “server pack” installer in the provider’s panel and verify that it installs the SERVER package rather than only a client profile. If no importer exists, ask the provider how to upload the official server zip before creating the world.

Self-hosting is a file-management task. The safest workflow is to keep a clean copy of the official server package, make changes in a separate live directory, and record the exact RotN release used by the group.
1. Lock the version with your players
Choose one release first. The latest release seen in the listing is 3.3.4 for Forge 1.12.2, dated 2026-02-02, but treat that as a point-in-time observation and recheck CurseForge’s Files tab. Do not begin with a client that says 3.3.4 while downloading an older server archive such as 3.3.2 or 3.2.2.
2. Download the SERVER zip
On the pack’s CurseForge Files tab, locate the file explicitly marked “SERVER” for the chosen release. Separate server archives were listed for 3.3.4, 3.3.2 and 3.2.2. Reported sizes are approximately 735.56 MB for the 3.3.2 server pack (dated 2025-11-14) and 777.50 MB for the 3.2.2 pack (dated August 2024); those figures came from listing snippets and are not a substitute for the file size shown when you download.

3. Unpack into a dedicated directory
Extract the zip into a new directory used only for this server. Do not mix it with another Forge installation or an unrelated vanilla world. Preserve the archive until the server has started successfully; it is your clean rollback copy.

Look for a readme, launch script, configuration file or version notes inside the extracted package. Use the supplied launch method and the Java runtime it specifies. The available information does not establish a RotN-specific Java version or a universal command, so do not invent a script name or copy launch flags from a different modpack.
5. Start once and inspect the console
Run the pack’s server launcher from the server directory and watch the console for a completed Forge startup. The first run may create configuration, world and acceptance files. Stop the process cleanly if the instructions require an acknowledgement step, then complete that step and start again. Keep the full console output if startup fails; it identifies missing files, incompatible Java, or a mod-loading error far more reliably than a client screenshot.
6. Keep the generated folders together
A Forge pack normally relies on its complete directory structure, including the mods and configuration folders. Do not move only the mods folder and assume the server is portable. If you are transferring files to a rented machine, upload the complete server directory or use the provider’s official importer.

7. Configure access and test locally
Before advertising the address, join from the host machine or a second computer on the same network if possible. Confirm that the world loads, the expected mods appear, and a player can place and break blocks. Local testing separates pack errors from router and firewall problems.

8. Make the server reachable
For a home server, configure the operating system firewall and router forwarding according to your network equipment, then give friends the public address and port shown by your server configuration. Do not publish an administration panel password or run the process with more operating-system privileges than it needs. If you cannot forward a port or your connection is behind carrier-grade NAT, a managed host may be simpler than trying to work around the network.
How much RAM does RotN need?
Available hosting guidance conflicts: one listing mentions about 6–8 GB for a small group, another says 4 GB can run smoothly, others recommend at least 8 GB, and another places 10–12 GB at 10 or more players. These figures are not mapped consistently to provider hardware, view distance, world age, or background processes, so treat them as planning ranges rather than guarantees.

Allocate memory to the Java server process while leaving enough RAM for the operating system, panel, backups and any other services. Giving every available gigabyte to Java can make the whole machine unstable. If the server pauses during world generation or when several players explore different areas, check memory pressure and garbage-collection messages before changing unrelated settings.

RAM alone does not determine performance. CPU speed, storage latency, the number of simultaneously loaded chunks, redstone or mob activity, and network quality all matter. Increase memory only when monitoring shows memory pressure; excessive allocation cannot repair a broken mod, a slow disk or a bad network route.
Keep clients and server on the same release
Version mismatch is the most common avoidable RotN setup error. Record the release number in your group chat and use it as a deployment checklist.
- The Minecraft version must be 1.12.2.
- The Forge-based RotN release must match on every client and on the server.
- Use the SERVER archive for that exact release, not a similarly named archive from another date.
- Do not copy individual client mods into the server unless the pack’s own instructions require it.
- After an update, test with a backup world or a copy of the production world before allowing normal play.
For example, a server installed from the 3.2.2 SERVER zip should not be paired with clients updated to 3.3.4. If you see missing-mod, registry, or handshake errors immediately after an update, compare the release number and file set before changing Java or allocating more RAM.
Updates, backups and rollback
Plan an update
- Announce a maintenance window and stop the server cleanly.
- Back up the world directory and the complete configuration directory.
- Write down the current release and keep its original server archive.
- Download the new release’s SERVER zip from the CurseForge Files tab.
- Install it in a new directory or follow the provider’s documented upgrade method; do not overwrite the only working copy.
- Apply your saved configuration carefully, because a newer pack can add or rename settings.
- Start the new server and test with one client on the new release.
- Restore the old directory if the world or mod loading fails.
Back up more than the world
A useful backup includes the world, server properties, configuration files, permission or whitelist files, and any scripts or notes that describe your launch settings. Store at least one copy outside the live machine. A provider snapshot is convenient, but an independently downloaded archive gives you a recovery path if the account or machine becomes unavailable.
Do not downgrade a live world casually
World data can change between pack releases. If an update fails, restore the complete pre-update backup rather than mixing a new configuration with an old world or vice versa. Test the rollback on a copy when time allows.

- Choose a release and record its number.
- Confirm every player uses Minecraft 1.12.2 and the same Forge-based RotN profile.
