Compatibility requirements for the current release
Tensura Evolutions is a Membrane modpack for Minecraft 1.21.1 using NeoForge. The current client listing is Tensura Evolutions-1.0.69.9.zip, released September 7, 2026. Its matching dedicated-server download is Serverpack_version_1.0.69.9.v2.zip, uploaded September 11, 2026, and listed at 614.0 MB. Treat those identifiers as a matched set: a different Minecraft version, loader, or pack release can prevent clients from joining.

Self-hosting on a home or office computer
Self-hosting gives you control over the files, save backups, configuration, and upgrade timing. The computer must remain powered on while people play, have a stable connection, and be able to accept inbound connections. A wired connection is preferable for the host, but the important requirements are sufficient memory, storage for the pack and world, and a router/firewall rule for the game port.

Running on a rented virtual server
A rented Linux or Windows machine avoids exposing your home network and is usually available around the clock. You still administer Java, the NeoForge process, backups, updates, and firewall rules. Check that the plan provides a full Java 21 runtime, at least the 6 GB starting allocation, persistent storage, and permission to use the required port.
Using managed modpack hosting
Managed services can install a loader and handle server files, players, and routine controls through a panel. For example, Modrinth Hosting advertises integrated modpack installation, NeoForge support, and management of server files and players. That is a convenience option, not proof that this particular release is available. Before paying, ask the provider to confirm support for Minecraft 1.21.1, NeoForge, and Serverpack_version_1.0.69.9.v2.zip, and review its current price, storage, backup policy, player limits, and uptime terms.
| Consideration | Self-hosted | Managed host |
|---|---|---|
| Initial setup | You download, extract, install Java/NeoForge, and configure networking | Panel or support may automate installation if the pack is listed |
| Control | Direct access to every file and setting | Depends on the provider’s panel and restrictions |
| Maintenance | You perform updates, backups, and troubleshooting | Provider supplies infrastructure tools; you still manage pack and world choices |
| Availability | Depends on your computer and Internet connection | Usually designed for continuous operation, subject to the provider’s terms |
| Cost | Uses your existing hardware and connection | Recurring charge; exact pricing and Tensura availability must be confirmed directly |
Download the correct server pack
- Open the official Tensura Evolutions files page on CurseForge and locate the dedicated-server artifact named
Serverpack_version_1.0.69.9.v2.zip. - Download the current client release,
Tensura Evolutions-1.0.69.9.zip, for yourself and your players. Keep a note of the exact filename and version number. - Create a new, empty directory dedicated to this server. A path such as
Tensura-Evolutions-1.0.69.9makes it easier to distinguish this instance from older worlds. - Extract the server ZIP into that directory. Preserve the folder structure supplied by the pack; do not drag selected mods or configuration files from another release into it.
- Keep the original ZIP outside the live directory. It is useful for rebuilding a clean installation if an update or manual edit goes wrong.
The server archive is not the same thing as a client installation. A client ZIP contains files needed by players, while the server pack supplies the dedicated-server layout and launch instructions. Use the server archive for the server and distribute the matching client release separately.
Install Java 21 and NeoForge
Verify Java before starting
Install a 64-bit Java 21 runtime on the machine that will run the server. Open a terminal or command prompt and run:

java -version
The output should identify Java 21. If it reports an older release, install Java 21 and make sure the server’s start script points to that installation. If the command is not found, Java is either missing or not on the system path; correct that before troubleshooting NeoForge.
Use the pack’s supplied launcher
Follow the start script or instructions included in the extracted server pack. Those files are the pack author’s intended way to launch the NeoForge server and apply its arguments. Run the script from the server directory so relative paths resolve to the correct libraries, configuration, and world folders. On systems that block scripts downloaded from the Internet, remove the operating system’s file-blocking flag or use the documented method for allowing the script; do not rename random JARs as a substitute for the supplied launcher.

Confirm a clean first launch
The first run may take longer while NeoForge creates libraries and server directories. Watch the console rather than closing the window immediately. A successful initialization should leave a running server process waiting for commands. Stop it cleanly from the console after the initial files have been generated, then complete the EULA and memory settings described next.
Accept the EULA and set memory
- Start the server once using the included launcher, then stop it after the initial generation completes.
- Open the generated
eula.txtfile and read Mojang’s terms. - Set
eula=trueonly if you accept those terms. Leaving it false is expected to stop the server from starting; changing it without accepting the agreement is not a valid workaround. - Open the supplied launch script and set the Java heap according to your machine’s available memory. The deployment guide uses 6 GB RAM as a baseline for this pack. Treat that as a starting allocation rather than a promise that every number of players or world will fit.
- Leave headroom for the operating system and other services. Giving Java every gigabyte in the machine can cause swapping or make the host unresponsive.
- Start again and watch both the console and system memory use. If the process is killed by the operating system, reduce competing workloads or move to a machine with more RAM before increasing the heap.
The exact heap-argument syntax varies by the script supplied with the pack and by operating system. Edit that script rather than inventing a second launcher, and keep a copy of the working version before making changes.

Configure the network so friends can connect
On the host machine
- Allow the Java server process through the operating system firewall when prompted.
- Permit inbound TCP traffic on port 25565, the conventional Minecraft server port named in the deployment guide. If you deliberately choose another port, use that same value in the server configuration, firewall rule, router rule, and the address you give players.
- Keep the server running after the networking rule is created and test from a device that is not using the host’s local address. A connection from the same computer can succeed even when Internet forwarding is wrong.
For a home router
- Give the host computer a stable local address, either by a DHCP reservation or a static network configuration.
- Create a port-forwarding rule for the chosen Minecraft port from the router to that local address.
- Check that the router’s own firewall and the computer’s firewall both allow the connection.
- Give friends your public IP address (or a DNS name you control) and the port if it is not 25565. Never publish your local address such as
192.168.x.x; that address works only inside your home network.
Some Internet providers place customers behind carrier-grade NAT, which prevents unsolicited inbound connections even when router forwarding is configured correctly. In that case, ask the provider for a public IPv4 address, use a network solution that supports hosting, or choose a rented/managed server instead.
For a rented server
Open the port in the provider’s network firewall as well as in the operating system firewall. Provider control panels sometimes expose a separate security-group rule; a local rule alone will not override a blocked provider rule.

Every player needs the same pack release and loader combination as the server:
- Minecraft 1.21.1
- NeoForge for Minecraft 1.21.1
- Tensura Evolutions 1.0.69.9 client files
Have players install the pack through the distribution method associated with the official release, then launch that profile once before connecting. A player on another Tensura version, a different Minecraft version, or a different loader can receive a missing-mod, registry, or incompatible-version error. Updating only the server does not update clients; schedule both sides together.

- Share the address privately with the intended players and keep the server’s operator credentials out of public chat.
Backups, updates, and routine administration
Make a recoverable backup
Stop the server cleanly before copying its world and configuration directories. Keep at least one backup away from the live server machine. A backup made while files are actively being written can be incomplete, so do not rely on a simple drag-and-drop copy while the process is running.

A free scan shows the junk files, broken settings and background clutter dragging Windows down - then fixes them in one click.Free scan · Windows 10 & 11Change configuration cautiously
Change one setting at a time, record what you changed, and restart to test it. If the server fails after an edit, restore the last known-good file rather than deleting random mods. Keep the untouched server ZIP and a clean copy of the configuration as recovery points.
Update the pack as a matched release
- Announce a maintenance window and stop the server.
- Back up the world, configuration, and any scripts you have modified.
- Download the new official server pack and the corresponding client release.
- Extract the new server pack into a new directory instead of overwriting the old installation.
- Carry over only documented settings and the world backup; do not merge old mods or libraries wholesale.
- Start the new instance, inspect the console for errors, and test with one client before opening it to everyone.
- Keep the old directory until the new world has been verified and a rollback is no longer needed.
This clean-directory approach prevents stale files from an older release from surviving an update and producing errors that are difficult to diagnose.

“Incompatible mod set” or a missing-mod message
Compare the server pack filename with every player’s client version. Confirm Minecraft is 1.21.1 and that both sides use NeoForge. Reinstalling the exact client release is usually safer than copying individual files into an existing profile.

The launcher says Java is missing or the process exits immediately
Run java -version from the same account and environment used by the start script. Install 64-bit Java 21, correct the script’s Java path if it uses one, and launch from the server directory. Read the first error in the console; later messages often describe consequences rather than the cause.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
The server runs out of memory or becomes unresponsive
Start from the documented 6 GB baseline, monitor actual usage, and leave memory for the operating system. Reduce other workloads, lower simultaneous activity, or move to a larger machine if the server still exhausts memory. Increasing the heap beyond the physical RAM available can make performance worse.
The console loads, but friends cannot connect
- Verify the server is still running and listening on the intended port.
- Check the host firewall, router forwarding, and any provider security-group rule.
- Make sure friends are using the public address, not the host’s private LAN address.
- Test from a separate network, such as a phone hotspot, to avoid a false-positive local test.
- If the Internet connection uses carrier-grade NAT, request a public address or move the server to a host that accepts inbound traffic.
The server stops during startup after files were copied
Restore the clean server directory or rebuild it from the official server ZIP. Mixing files from older pack releases is a frequent cause of stale libraries and configuration conflicts. Reapply only changes you can identify and test one at a time.
A world appears missing after an update
Stop the server and check that the new launch script points to the intended server directory and world name. Do not delete the old world. Restore the backup if the update process altered or failed to load the save.
Managed deployment alternatives
Modrinth’s documentation describes server-side deployment through Modrinth Servers, mrpack-install, or the itzg/minecraft-server Docker image. These are general deployment routes, not a guarantee that Tensura Evolutions is published in a compatible format. Use one only after confirming that the exact 1.0.69.9 pack and its NeoForge requirements are supported. If the host cannot import the official server ZIP or identify the required loader, manual deployment on a standard virtual server is less ambiguous.
