Get the matching server pack
Use the project’s server-pack download on its CurseForge page rather than assembling individual mods from unrelated pages. A server pack is intended to provide the server-side files, configuration, and mod set as a coherent release. The project currently lists jor_Server_1.2.8.zip. An older file page identifies Server_1.2.zip at 726.56 MB, so the two names should not be treated as interchangeable versions.
Before downloading, write down the exact release name and file name. Save the ZIP unchanged as an archive in a location separate from the live server folder. That gives you a known source for recovery if an extraction is interrupted or a later update replaces files you still need.

- Do not combine the server pack with a different Minecraft release, loader, or modpack version.
- Do not copy random client-only mods into the server directory. If you add anything, record it and install the corresponding required files on every client.
- Check the project page again immediately before production setup for a changed server-pack filename or newer release.
Plan the machine and network first
Memory and performance
CurseForge publishes “8GB or more RAM” as the project’s recommendation. Treat that as a starting allocation, not a promise that every group will have the same experience. Actual demand changes with the number of players, view distance, how much of the world is being generated, simultaneous mobs and structures, and any additional components you install.
After the first launch, watch memory use and tick performance while two or more clients explore different areas. A server that feels fine when everyone stands together can behave differently when players generate new terrain, enter dimensions, fight bosses, or load heavily populated builds. If performance degrades, reduce the workload that your configuration allows, move experiments to a test copy, and investigate logs before simply adding more mods.
Choose where it runs
A computer at home gives you direct access to the files and console, while a managed service can provide a web console, automated backups, and a public network endpoint. Whichever model you choose, verify these capabilities before committing:

No source establishes a preferred commercial host for this modpack. The important decision is whether the service exposes the controls above and supports the exact Forge release, not the provider’s brand name.
Install a clean dedicated instance
Keep the first installation deliberately conservative. A fresh directory and a fresh world make it possible to distinguish an installation problem from a corrupted save or an old configuration.
- Create a dedicated server directory. Use a new folder for this pack rather than reusing a vanilla, Fabric, NeoForge, or older Forge server. Give the folder a name that includes the pack release so you can identify it later.
- Download and preserve the server ZIP. Place the matching file in your archive area, then copy or extract it into the new live directory. Do not edit the ZIP itself.
- Install the matching Forge environment. Select Minecraft 1.19.2 and the Forge release required by the selected modpack file. The loader on the server must be the same loader and release family used by the clients’ profiles.
- Complete the first startup. Launch the dedicated server using the startup method supplied by the Forge installation and server pack. Let it create its initial directories and configuration, then stop it cleanly before making changes. If the launcher presents a required agreement or setup prompt, complete it according to that prompt.
- Keep the initial configuration unchanged for the first test. Avoid adding performance mods, changing generation settings, or importing an existing world until the unmodified pack has started successfully. A baseline is essential for later troubleshooting.
- Start a new test world. Confirm that world generation completes and that the server can reach the in-game world without a crash. Test the pack’s defining paths: reincarnation or character setup, skills, races, mobs, structures, quests, progression, and any dimensions your group expects to use.
- Stop and back up the test state. Copy the world and the working server configuration to a separate backup location. Keep the original server ZIP and a note of the exact release beside that backup.
Prepare matching client profiles
Each player should create a dedicated launcher profile for this server. The profile must use Minecraft 1.19.2, Forge, the same modpack release, and the same dependencies as the server. A player who launches a different loader, an older mod release, or a partially updated dependency set may be rejected even when the server address is correct.
- Install or select the profile for the exact release recorded during server setup.
- Check that the profile’s Minecraft version and Forge loader match the server’s record.
- Compare the mod and dependency files against the server pack. Remove duplicate, outdated, or manually added files that are not part of the intended release.
- Use one client to join the fresh test world before distributing the profile to the whole group.
- Add a second client and test a normal session: joining, moving away from the starting area, combat, and the content your group actually plans to play.
Keep a copy of the known-good client profile or its exported instance, if your launcher supports that operation. It prevents every player from independently “fixing” a mismatch by adding an unverified file.
Verify the game before inviting everyone
Use a short acceptance checklist rather than assuming that a server which reaches the title screen is ready for production. On the test world, verify:

- The server reaches the world without a startup or world-loading crash.
- A new character can complete the reincarnation or setup sequence.
- Skills and races appear and can be selected or progressed as intended.
- Quests, structures, mobs, bosses, and dimensions load when reached.
- Two clients can see one another and perform basic combat without disconnects.
- The intended permissions and whitelist behavior work for both an administrator and a regular player.
- The server remains usable while players explore different areas and generate terrain.
Record the result, the player count used for the test, and any configuration changes. That note becomes your rollback reference; without it, an update can leave you guessing which combination last worked.
Make the server reachable to friends
Local-network testing
Start by joining from the same local network as the host. This isolates mod compatibility from internet routing. If a local client cannot join, fix the server files, loader, configuration, or local firewall before investigating port forwarding.
Internet access
For players outside the host’s network, publish the address and listening port that the server is actually using. Confirm that the server is bound to the expected network interface, that the host firewall permits the server process, and that the router forwards the selected port to the correct machine. A valid internal address is not automatically reachable from the public internet.
Check the address from a trusted project or community channel before distributing it. The available project information does not establish a permanent canonical IP, so do not present an old address as official. If your public address changes, update your group through a channel they already trust.
Whitelist and permissions
Use a whitelist when the server is intended for a private group. Give operator access only to trusted administrators, and keep ordinary players on ordinary permissions. Document who has administrative access and where the permission settings are stored. This reduces the chance that an accidental command or an unknown connection damages the world.

Backups, updates, and rollback
Back up before every risky change
Make a copy of the world before updating the pack, changing generation or progression settings, adding a mod, or testing a configuration. Also preserve the server configuration, permissions, and the exact client/server release record. Store at least one copy outside the live server directory so a failed update cannot overwrite every recovery option.
Use a test copy for experiments
Clone the world and server files into a separate test instance before trying an update or an additional component. Test world loading and the content your group uses most. If the test copy fails, the production world remains untouched.
Update both sides together
Change the client and server files as one planned operation. Record the previous working state, stop the server cleanly, create the backup, replace the files with the selected release, and test before opening access to players. If the new release fails, restore the previous server files and world backup rather than mixing old and new components.
Troubleshoot the common failures
“Incompatible” rejection or an immediate kick
Compare, in order, the Minecraft version, Forge loader, modpack release, dependency list, and relevant configuration on both sides. Remove duplicate or outdated files. Do not try to solve a loader mismatch by copying a single mod from the server into a client; rebuild the client profile from the same release instead.
Crash while loading a world
Stop the server and restore the most recent known-good backup. Then launch a fresh world with the same files. If the fresh world works, the problem is likely tied to the old save or its configuration; if it also fails, inspect the server log for the common file or mod involved before changing anything.

Skills, races, quests, or other content is missing
Verify that the intended release is active and that every required dependency is present. Check the server’s extracted files and the client profile against the saved release record. A partial extraction or an accidental client-only installation can leave the game playable while omitting the content you expected.
The server starts, but nobody can connect
Separate an address problem from a game problem. First test locally. Then check the advertised public address, the selected port, router forwarding, host-firewall rules, and the interface to which the server is bound. Confirm that the whitelist is not rejecting every player. If local joining works but internet joining fails, focus on routing and firewall controls rather than reinstalling the modpack.

Check server memory use and tick performance while players generate terrain or enter a dimension. Compare the behavior on a fresh world and review the server log for repeated errors. Keep experiments on a copied world; changing several settings at once makes it difficult to identify the cause.
An update made the world unstable
Close the server, preserve the failed state for log review, and restore the last working files and world backup. Do not continue playing on a world that is already producing errors while you search for a fix. Once the rollback is confirmed, reproduce the update on a test copy and document the result.
What to include when asking for help
A useful support report lets someone compare the entire installation instead of guessing from a symptom. Include:
- Minecraft version.
- Forge version.
- Exact modpack and server-pack release.
- Any additional mods or configuration changes.
- The launcher or hosting environment.
- Whether the failure occurs locally, remotely, or both.
- The server log around the failure.
- The complete client error, not just “it does not work.”
- What changed immediately before the problem: an update, new world, dependency change, or network change.
Remove passwords, private addresses, and other secrets before posting logs publicly, but leave version and stack-trace details intact.

Limits of the available performance information
The project’s 8GB recommendation is the only published memory guidance identified for this pack. There is no independent capacity study establishing a maximum player count, a guaranteed number of simultaneous users, or a fixed CPU requirement. Treat your own fresh-world multiplayer test as the decision point for the group size you intend to host.
General dedicated-server documentation, including SteamCMD material, does not demonstrate that this CurseForge pack is distributed through Steam. Obtain the pack from its project distribution and follow the Forge-based installation described above; do not substitute a generic Steam workflow.
